SOURCE: my dvd recorder DMR-EZ45VEBS COME

I get this too, and a little research brought me lots of anecdotes but nothing concrete, but here's was I deduce from the stories...

The unit has an auto-scan feature that periodically checks for new services or channels. Sometimes when it adds one it encounters and error and hangs showing U80. When you're recording it seems the auto-scan doesn't interrupt, so your program will complete. I've had several failures of timed recordings when the unit has stalled before recording was due to start.

Try switching the auto-scan off...

Functions > Others > Display > New service message

Hoepfully that will resolve it, though you will need to manually scan for new services periodically to make sure you don't miss out. At least you'll be on hand if it fails so it won't sit showing U80 for hours!

Unit turns on and off but nothing else works

Simultaneously press the [CHANNEL UP] and [CHANNEL DOWN] buttons on the front of the DVD Recorder for approximately 10 - 15 seconds (until the unit powers off).

Disconnect the wall outlet. Wait for 10 minutes. Then power up.

It this still does not help....and If you are capable of taking the risk check out DMR-EZ47 Firmware Installation Instructions

Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder / VCR Combo RC1 errior message how do I fix this problem

To get into Service Mode, first put the machine in STANDBY mode, then press the buttons ChUp OPEN/CLOSE and REC all at the same time on the front panel (Ch Up is hidden inside the AV3 input flap). Eventually the front panel display will show "SERV" (after its "HELLO" messages). Anyway, pressing [6] then [5] on the Remote Control tells me that I have an Error Code of "04" which is a Digital PCB or Communication Error (whereas an Error code of "02" means a "Defect of RAM drive"). (To exit from Service Mode, press [0] then [0] which should get you back to "SERV" and then POWER-OFF the machine).

Hopefully, your manual will display your error codes.

Perhaps the remote control is not set to the same control code as your DMR-ES40V. Codes may be set to 1, 2, or 3 on the remote by holding down the enter button and one of those number buttons for several seconds at the same time. The factory default is code 1. Try 1 first. If that doesn't work try 2. If that doesn't work try 3. If one of those codes doesn't work you may have a bad remote or a bad sensor on your machine. On DMR-ES35V models the sensor is located just to the right of center behind the black window

    Panasonic DMR-ES46V shows F60 Error

I have same problem with es40v - f60 error with no response to troubleshooting protocol. This machine also was used very little & also has a history of turning itself on. Panasonic used to make high quality products. A shame that their products are no longer trustworthy. I can understand that machines break - i'm very frustrated to learn replacement parts are not available. Guess i need to re- think brand loyalty.
