Hello sangpark003 - Often when the unit is making a whistling noise, it is because it is pulling air from the outside. Sometimes a poor door gasket could be causing the whistling. You may check if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and the door. Now close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check to see if the door is being blocking by anything stopping it from closing. However, if issue persists, I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the refrigerator to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts or to confirm if it is a normal operation noise.

One of two things are probably happening. If you have a distorted, torn, or missing part of a gasket it may whistle when the air in the compartment suddenly shrinks inside the cabinet when the door is closed. Second possibility is that you have an equalizer tube that allows the air pressure to equalize when the door closed. It occurs to me that maybe the fan inside the freezer may have bearings that are in the process of failing and only complain when the fan motor begins to start up after the door has been closed. hope this helps. Most likely the "Motherboard" has failed.

The freezer being closed up tight and so cold can create a negative pressure inside. This negative pressure will cause the door to be very hard to open and could pull the door closed too quickly. Most manufactures today use small air valves the open and release as the door is being opened and closed. They are most often found on the bottom of the door itself or sometimes in the cabinet behind the back wall.

The noise is perfectly normal, my wife says it is there to alarm her when I am eating too many ice cream bars.....

I know of two things which can cause the noise. Since it hasn't always made the noise I would guess the motherboard is making it. Try to pinpoint the noise. Your motherboard is on the back. Part 801 on this diagram. Another cause I've seen is because of the unique shape of the condenser coil. With the air pulled through it it can make a noise. It may help to clean the coil which may also help the ice situtation. It's part 730 on the diagram.

that because the internal fan is hiting the ice or has bad bushings you can hear the noise just with the door close because when you open the door there is a switch the one turns off the internal fan so when you close the door it turn on the fan again if you wants to hear that with the door open just open the door and push the botton swich with your fingers and you'll hear the noise

Is it a frost free freezer ? if it is it sounds like the evaporator fan motor making the noise
