My vax rapide w89 will not spray water from the bottom

Hi s_hall9800,

We bought a Vax Rapide Carpet Cleaner and were disappointed with it's performance as we couldn't see it spraying the cleaning soltion onto the carpet. I found there was no pump and gravity was all that put the solution on via a sparge pipe, controlled by a trigger-operated valve. So, all that happened was an intermittent sort-of dribbling. The cleaner picked -up quite well, though and we sprayed the carpet using a separate hand-held sprayer.

Vax customer support

Hi, it's Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum.

There are a few potential solutions you should try to fix the spray on your vax vacuum. Under the brush you will find a plastic strip with pinholes in it that sprays the water. The pinholes can get clogged, so you can clear them by pushing a pin sized object through them.

You can also try looking at the pipes and valves inside the machine. These can become blocked by different materials. To open them up, put hot water into the water tank and run the machine while pressing the trigger on and off to give bursts of pressure to help clear the blockage. After this is done repeat the first solution above.

I hope this was helpful. If you would like further assistance, please feel free to give us a call at 877.750.9239. We have helpful and friendly customer care representatives on the line ready to assist you.

Hi my vax rapide ultra carpet cleaner seems to continually spray without operating the trigger and this makes extraction of the water/ solution difficult. Is this continoues spray normal?

No it should only spray when the trigger is pressed. After spraying you go over the area to suck the water out. The valve on the trigger is faulty. I found this

I had the same problem, after buying a new clean water tank the problem was still there. I decided to see how it works and discovered the little shut off valve that the trigger operates is sticking in the open position. I am now trying to find a new valve.

Vax carpet washer deluxe leaks from bottom of water tank, somewhere between coming out of the tank and going into the jet to squirt on the floor. pissing me off - any help would be great!

This is a common problem known by repairers. What happens is residue gets stuck in the seals. The next time you use the machine and press the trigger the seals stay open and water leaks continually. It was suggested that maybe after you finish using the machine you do a whole tank of plain water to rinse it out but I haven't had any luck with that. I am stuck with a machine that doesn't work.
