SOURCE: Epson Stylus D88 Plus paper jam

1. Unplug the power and USB cables from the printer. I pried open my C42UX printer, careful not to break anything. I use a flat blade screwdriver to pry it apart; there are two-three tabs at the back and two at the front. Gently push them in, and then using a bit of force pry apart the cover.
2. Next I removed the two (2) waste ink pads. They are located at the back on the left hand side. I used the flat blade screwdriver to lift up the ink pads (they were soaked). Please use rubber gloves as it gets very messy.
3. Next I took the pads to the kitchen skin and washed them with just plain hot water until they were white again. I just let the hot water run on them (the pads are about three inches long).
4. Once washed I dried them using a hair drier. (you could place it the sun for a few hours or on top of your heater or maybe in a heated oven; (make sure you do not set it on fire with too much heat).
5. Once dried I placed the pads back in the ink waste bin at the back of the printer.
6. I closed the printer cover and put back all the pieces and plugged in the USB & power cable and turned it on. (Yes the lights are still flashing).
7. Go to this link and download this software: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html
8. Install the software and run it.
9. Select your printer and model number ( It only says C42 there is no UX, choose it anyway). It will ask if you replaced with new pads; say “YES”. Then close the window.
10. Now right click on the SSC service utility, it looks like a printer icon near your clock in the task bar.
11. Then click on reset counters. You can do all other stuff with this utility too.
12. Turn off the printer power and then turn it on again. If necessary un-plug the power cord from the back of the printer, wait 20 seconds. Plug it back in.
13. THERE YOU GO! IT WORKS AGAIN.
14. By the way I use generic ink and I fill my own cartridges. I use ink from www.atlanticinkjet.com. Great stuff.

try this and let me know it worked or not ...

SOURCE: All lights flashing on the Epson Stylus photo 870

Unfortunately, the Russian software does not work on a Mac, and it crashes at launch when installed in WZ98 under Virtual PC. However, I found this on another site, and it worked immediately:

The sequence to reset the waste ink counter is as follows:

WASTE INK ROM RESET ONLY 870, 1270

1. Turn the printer off using the power button on the panel of the printer.
2. Disconnect the interface cable at the back of the printer.
3. Hold down the "LOAD/EJECT" and "CLEANING" buttons simultaneously.
4. Turn the printer on. Release all buttons as soon as paper out light flashes.
5. Quickly press (within 3 seconds while PAPER OUT light is flashing) the "CLEANING" button for 10 seconds.
6. Release the button and the printer will initialize.
7. Once initialization is complete, turn the printer off.
8. Reconnect the interface cable.
9. Turn the printer on

Works great, no muss...no fuss!

Epson D88 will not print, both red lights flash, message remove obstruction switch off and on. No change still 2 redlights flashing

The Lights can flash on an error and also iff the INK levels are down. You must check the ink levels and try to do a reset with printer software reinstalled.
Remvoe pinter from the PC, unistall and then reinstall to see if the printer shows the INK level exactly. If not replace INK cartridges to confirm.
tip

Manual Counter Reset Method

To manually reset the Ink Jet Counter that compels you to clean your waste pads. For the tip on how to clean your ink waste pads go here.

Please Note: In some cases, your printer may be leaking ink so much and so often that not only does your ink pads need cleaning, but you may need to replace the ink reservoir on your printer or you will have a leaking mess on your hands. This is a decision and judgment only you can make. If your printer is leaking quite of lot of ink, you may have to take it to an authorized Epson Repair Shop or Person. Find an authorized location by starting at Epson.com

The solution below is valid for most of the following printer models listed below this solution, some listed may not work, some not listed may also work it varies as this method is listed below is illegal for an authorized Epson Tech to release.

Thanks to the many user boards on the Internet for this solution that I know has worked for people I've helped here on FixYa.

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work the first time. The key is in pressing the buttons exactly at the same time. So if this doesn't work the first time, try again and try again. Most people state they get it eventually.

[thanks to fixyourownprinter.com for the crux of this particular solution]

"Printer Onboard Control Panel Key Sequence"

"Press and hold the paper feed, paper switch and the power switch.

Once the power light and paper light flashes twice and the other lights are flashing release the paper feed and paper switch "and then press the paper feed switch".

The power, paper and ink lights will flash twice. At this point the protection counter has been reset."

Don't give up, if it does not reset the first time. The timing is tricky for some people.

Supported Epson Models that I am aware of, others not listed may work and some listed also may not work, it varies but don't be discouraged to try and try again.

You can also try the software download solution listed in this tip I posted.

I have an Epson D88 Inkjet Printer which is a couple of years old. Both the ink and the paper lights or flashing. The manual recommends taking to the dealer but it is not worth it. Any tips on a quick fix?

Could it be you're out of ink and paper simultaneously? But is it even worth buying more ink to find out if this is the cure? If so, I'd try generic ink cartridges to minimize the cost of the experiment. On the other hand, you could probably replace the printer, with new ink cartridges for not much more than the cost of ink for your old printer. They're made to be throwaway, unfortunately.

unless you replace or clean the waste pad from here on in regard your printer as a ticking ink bomb. put it on a tray with a lip just incase of an ink overflow and dont put it on the carpet.

Epson d88 printer just floods the paper with ink

Sounds a lot like you have an ink pressure issue and at a guess you are using a CIS (Continuous Ink Supply) system.

I would refer back to the documentation that came with your printer and make sure that you are not overpressuring the printhead with the ink reservoirs set too high or some part of the priming process has been missed.

More information about your printers setup would definitely help ID more specific issues that could be causing this.

My epson d88 printer has 2 flashing lights, the ink charge and paper feed lights. this is preventing me printing out. this happened after i tried to change my inks. can anybody help?

I just had the same problem. Try opening the top flap on the printer and see if you can click the lid down on the ink cartridge box more firmly (until it clicks) - i had to force the cartridges to the left slightly to do this, although I'm not sure if thats neccessary. Then i pushed the cartidge box back to the right where it was before. The 2 red lights still flashed for me, but when i turned the printer off and on again it worked just fine. I hope this helps.

MY EPSON D88 PRINTER HAS 2 FLASHING LIGHTS

This is usually caused by a problem with the chip(s) on the new cartridge.

Check that the chips are clean, and are correctly installed on the cartridge(s) (some can be knocked out of alignment and thus not connect properly).

Also check for any damage to the tiny wires in the printhead where the cartridge sits.. These can also become soiled with fluff, etc... Be VERY careful if you try to clean these as they are very delicate and if broken off you will have a broken printer.

Last thing is of course to check you have the correct cartridges... A common one with the D88 is to have C86 cartridges which are not compatible at all (different' chips!).

Hope that helps.
