Have a mcculloch fg5700ak portable generator. 7 yes old. Used 1 time for 20 hours. Sitting up since. Gas was drained so carburetor fine. Turn everything on and pull cord and it just won't kick on over and start. Any suggestions as to what it might be?

Make sure fuel tap is turned on. Tap the bottom of the carburettor with a wrench to make sure the float isn't stuck. Is the ignition on/off switch in the on position? make sure the oil level is ok as these usually have a low oil cutout which stops the motor when oil gets low. All that being ok give it full choke and it should start. Remove the sparkplug and check there is spark across the electrodes. (earth the thread part of plug on motor) If no spark replace the sparkplug.

SOURCE: stalling on my coleman 6250w portable generator

ajust the float in your carb (bend the brass tab in that the top of the needle valve touches)and clean this needle valve. the bowl can be removed with a 7/16 box wrench on the bottom brass nut that is also a needle jet (clean this jet ,some models it is just a jet, others it is ajustable and needs to be 1 turn out to start then ajust wile running hot untill it stops surging) the problem is not allowing enough fuel to fill the float bowl

SOURCE: Honda EU3000is generator will not start with electric starter.

I'd say your battery in the generator is going bad or bad. They are very small and do not hold a charge for very long. The noise you heard was probably the starter shaft hitting the flywheel cogs. I doubt any harm was done as long as you did not repeatedly try to start it with the key. Why Honda put a battery in these is because they are intended for use in a campground setting, where they would be used on a daily basis and the battery would constantly charged. Whereas people like us buy them for emergencies only, they sit for long periods, and the battery goes flat, and the fuel clogs the carb and we get the surging issue. That's my 2 cents. When I brought mine home new, I Sta-bil'd the heck out of the gasoline, this past winter, on start-up, the unit surges. Of course the battery was flat.

SOURCE: Generator hard to start. Kick back

This sounds like the timing is off. Remove the spark plug and pull the cord to see if there is less tension. If there is less tension then you know that the pull cord is fine. Do a compression check on the cylinder, it should be around 100psi. Remove the valve cover and check to see if valves are moving when your pulling the cord. The valves could have came off the rockers.

How can I replace carburetor?

I believe the electric solenoid is a fuel shut off. solenoid needs energized, normally with switch 12 Volts. other then float bowls are the carbs. identical, if they are switch bowls, should work. If not you will have to add switched power to solenoid, the link below looked similar to yours.

Generator not making electric

You have a faulty inverter board on the unit. I would warranty the generator in this case, or have the manufacturer send you out a replacement board to swap yourself.

11 hp 5700 watt generator wont fire

If you could not start in spite of oil and gas change, checked gas supply, spark plug, ignition cables and coils (magnetos) and so on whitout success, then try this:
Your generator has a low oil level protection, which stops the ignition of the motor.
After "a couple of years" sitting without or with old oil, the level switch may have got lazy or stuck down.
If your oil level seems to be good, while measured, find the oil switch and try to shorten or disconnect it.
If you succeed in running the generator change or repair the oil switch.

I hope that this will be helpful, because I don't have your device in front of me, but some people rank such an answer with 2 thumbs, which means useless. Better dont rank.

It sounds like its running on the gas in the carburetor and not the gas filling back up to run more, I bet you have a gas supply problem to the carburetor! Try Babbitts Yamaha Partshouse online...

Have an fg5700ak runs ok but no power output what

Typical diodes are 10 amp for these. The stator and rotor both have VERY low resistance readings. The reading typically will be below that which will register MEANINGFULLY on the digital meters.

My generator had 10 amp diodes with surge protectors across them. One of the protectors shorted and generator output was zero. Mine is a 6KW diesel silent unit.

Replaced the diodes with 70 amp ones with surge protectors that have 20 times the energy absorbtion as the originals. Unfortunately this required some lathe work to make holders for the diodes and the surge protectors to ride on the rotor.

Used the light bulb trick to remagnitize it once diodes were replaced.

Low oil switch cut engine off and on when cold

It is not the oil switch you need to adjust the heads open the side and check on the settings for both in and out and adjust them according to the manual...in the winter sometimes they do not like heavy oil so check the oil weight and try lighter one

My mcculloch Macpower pac 800E generator won't start. It had been stored for a long time.

The carb is dirty (varnished) from gas sitting in it. You will need to drain the carb and use carb cleaner to remove the old varnish left in it.

Almost new McCulloch 7800 won't start.

This is a typical problem with small engines that are not used often or only used seasonally

The problem exist when it is not prepped for storage properly, meaning that the fuel is not shut off and the engine allowed to burn off the remaining fuel that's left in the carburetors float bowl, causing the un-spent fuel to sour and later creating a condition called varnishing which clogs the carburetor venteries

All of these steps will require the use of skin and eye protection!!!

The solution is to replace the old fuel in the tank with fresh, its not a bad idea to replace the fuel filter at this time, then with the petcock in the off position remove the carburetor float bowl, inspect the gasket or seal for imperfections (replace as needed) and clean it along with the float assy. and piston check valve with a spray type carburetor & choke cleaner and gently wiping with a clean lint free cloth so as to remove all yellowish colored varnish and any debris, before reassembly place a glass or metal catch pan or bowl under the carburetor and turn the petcock to the on position to allow fresh fuel to flush out the fuel line and now LIGHTLY & GENTLY (without resistence) lift the float up, the fuel should stop flowing. If it does not stop, repeat cleaning procedure. If it does turn the petcock to off and reassemble. After reassembly turn the petcock to on, the engine should run.

Another preventive step is the use of a product called STA-BIL fuel stabilizer
