Ice build on the freezer box floor or White frost build up on the freezer box back wall (inside). Ice layer on floor means your drain line blocked. White frost layer means your machine is not going into defrost cycle.

SOURCE: freezer drain line freezes up

Check to see that the thermostat setting are correct. If the freezer temperature is too low and the fridge section is kept high, then the cold air from the freezer does not circulate properly causing the ice build up in the freezer. The freezer compartment is where all the cold air in the fridge is created, and its blown from here to the other compartment by the evaporator fan. Ideally, the freezer should be about 10F and the fridge should be 35F. Remember that any changes in the thermostat controls takes upto 24 hours to take effect.
If you find that the freezer drain is freezing, you can try adding some salt to try to melt the ice. Or carefully poke through it using a chop stick or thin blade screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the tube. You can then flush this out with hot water.

You can even install a defrost drain strap kit to prevent drain freeze ups...In any case, I'd recommend that you get a profession to asses and diagnose the problem.

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: Ice build up in freezer

Defrost system failure.

Defrost timer, heater, therma disk, any one could be bad.

You could manually defrost and this would get the Ref back to working for a couple of days before it iced up again. Remember there is a lot of ice build up on the cooling coils in the freezer that you can't see so, a little extra time with a hair dryer is needed to do a complete manual defrost.

SOURCE: Leaking water and ice build-up in freezer

There's a drain hole in the freezer side behind the bottom drawer in the back wall that must be clogh ; put hot water into it untill melted the ice and keep pouring water to clean the drain (don't worry , the water goes to an evaporative tray) .Keep the drain clean by putting every 3/4 months half a cup of clorox or bleach.

SOURCE: Kenmore refrigerator model 46-66812 ice build up on the bottom shelf of freezer

Had the same problem. I noticed that the fan in the freezer never shut off so I suspected the thermostat. I ordered and installed a new thermostat (about $30 and 15 minutes to install), the fan now cycles correctly and the ice build up is gone.

Model No IK 458 -4-4T; Product No 925 780 652 02 Ser No 14100010. I get ice build-up on floor of fast freezer comp which jams pull-out basket.

If the defroster coil is not working, then ice will build up on the coils inside the back of the refrigerator.

But, you're saying that it's accumulating on the floor of the freezer jamming the pull out basket.

I would say that the timer or overflow valve is bad on this refrigerator causing ice to build up on the floor of the fast freezer compartment causing the jamming.

Freezer model EV171NYMS04 we have ice build up on

There is a drain the back of the freezer that is frozen. Your trickle of water comes from the ice that melts off of the refrigeration coils during the defrost cycle. You need to turn off the freezer, then remove the rear cover from the back wall to expose the coils. With a hair dryer, melt all of the ice. You will find a drain under the coils. Melts all of the ice in this drain so water can get out of the freezer. When this drain is clear, you can put everything back together, and your freezer should work normally.
