How to replace locking mechanism on dyson dc25

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

We would advise against attempting to replace your DC25's locking mechanism yourself. If you're within the Dyson guarantee period, dismantling your machine any further than shown in the user guide can void the guarantee, meaning future replacement parts or repairs could be chargeable.

If you feel your DC25 needs a repair, please contact us directly so we can help arrange this for you. You can reach the Dyson customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

My swivel sweeper handle snapped right off where it is supposed to lock in place. Do they offer replacement for this?

You would need to check with the company where it was purchased. Some merchants just 'even-exchange' if you bought from a local retailer. Depends also on model/price. If it is lower-end item to begin with, may not be worth your trouble.

Dyson DC25 head wont vacuum when pedalhas been pressed?

More then likely your valve lock assy has broken. if your looking at the back of the machine, to the outside of the ball you'll see a black arm/hook attached by a silver spring. it could be loose, broken or out of place.

If you need any help feel free to contact me.

My dyson dc25 won't lock in the upright position

The DC25 Animal has a design flaw where part of the Duct Assembly (main part of the vacuum) where the Red lock bar goes over breaks off the Duct Assembly and it causes the DC25 to not be able to stand up normally. There is a short Youtube video describing this flaw.

Unfortunately, you can repair this except by replacing the entire duct assembly.

Have a DC25, I can not return the handle to the upright position. Nothing appears to be broken

Occasionally, customers have problems locking their Dyson vacuum in the upright position. This is a minor problem common with the Dyson DC07 and DC14 series and can easily be fixed by the customer. This page will show how to fix this problem. Although we show a Dyson DC14 Animal on this page, these instructions will work on any Dyson vacuum in the DC07 and DC14 series.

During shipping, moving parts on a Dyson vacuum can shift in position. One of these parts is a swinging arm in the base of the unit. This arm holds a removable elbow pipe in the vacuum's air passage. This arm can move out of the way so that you can clear out a blockage in the air passage. When this arm is out of position, the vacuum will not lock in the upright position. Fig. 1 Shows the base of a Dyson DC14 Animal locked upright. The red arrow points to the swinging arm. Fig. 2 shows the vacuum with the swing arm out of position. Since the swing arm is lower than it should be, it doesn't line up with the tab on the main body indicated by the red arrow.

Lean the handle of your Dyson all the way back and locate the black button on the right side of the vacuum indicated by the red arrow in Fig. 3.. Press the button down and hold it to unlock the swing arm.

While holding down the black button, pull the swinging arm (Shaded red in Fig. 4) all the way up. Fig. 5 shows the swinging arm in the correct position. Release the black button to lock the swing arm back in place.

The vacuum can now lock in the upright position as shown in Fig. 6. Note how the tab on the swinging arm overlaps the tab on the main body..

Hoover Handle Release Pedal Replacement--How is it possible?

Remove the brush roll, then there 3 screws to remove from the bottom. Then on each side there is a slot, use a flat blade and push on them, then the top rill come loose. That idler arm lock is # 4 in the picture and the knob holds it in place, unless it came off, you don't need to replace it. The handle release #6, there 2 tabs that fit into a holder on each side, stick your screw driver in there and try to twisp and pry it out from the holders, then pop in the new one.
