These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. If the Standby light is blinking at the front panel of the TV, it seems that there is an internal malfunction occurred in the TV. Hi,

There is a power fault with one of the PCB's inside, contact Sony if you are still in warranty, if not contact a Sony service center as it will need an engineer to open it up to repair it.

Normally yes. Blinking twice is power protection trip. Look first for open resistor, broken fuses (and short circuits or broken transistors / ICS if thats the case).

SUBJECT: Counter measure for Intermittently 5 times standby LED blinking
SYMPTOM: Customer may report that intermittently after AC OFF/ ON (or Deep Standby/ ON), TV will shut down with LED blinking 5 times. If set is placed in Standby, then On, symptom will re occur. If AC is removed, set will work normally when AC restored
CAUSE: Timing mismatch of I2C communication causes interrupt signal inside TV. This causes TV to shut down with error 'Standby led flashes 5 times'

SOLUTION: This is a user correctable issue -
Where possible, please refer customer to Sony Website -(or ) and search for relevant model to download correct update. If the unit is in Workshop, please perform update as per Instructions.
