Samsung lcd tv sereis 550 and a samsung dvd player dvd p241. have all the necessary cables hooked up picture not real clear and movies are playing in black and white
Re: new lcd tv and dvd player is playing movies in black...
1. Verify connections are color coded.
2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

Make sure you have the cables hook up right. If you are running component mode it takes three for video blue red and white ends. If you are running composite it takes red, white, and yellow.
it has something to do with your TV's video system and your player's video system...they should match...that is,PAL-PAL,NTSC-NTSC and etc..or if your tv has a multisystem then just set it to AUTO..
if this is only happening on your dvd player, then change the type of cable used to link the tv with the dvd player, if that does not fix it then try another dvd player to make sure it's not the player itself
had this problem when I start using it with "component" video cables on a new digital wide screen TV. I fixed it through the DVD player's setup menu, by changing the "video output" setting. On my Samsung player there are 3 options: S-video, 525i and 525p. It was set to S-video, and by changing it to any of the other two settings the problem was solved.
