That is generally how Night mode works - alerting you to a call then directing the caller to voicmail night message. You want to change the Forward No Answer setting in that mode; if your system doesn't support that, set FNA in regular (non-Night) for the attendant phone.

SOURCE: Require remote ring light for Nortel T7316E

What cabinet are you using? The CICS cabinet has an Analog Terminal Adapter built in (ext 117 or 37 iirc). This puts out a standard ring voltage that you could use to feed a strobe or relay. I hate to bring this up, but there is also an Auxiliary Ringer port on the sytsem. It's a make contact designed to handle 50 mA at 40v DC. You can drive a slave relay and switch whatever you want. It's assigned to a line or extension in programming. The only reason I hate to bring it up is because it makes your vendor look stupid, which he probably is. Carl

SOURCE: Have the Nortel T7316e. Before the phone rings it

Here is a link to your phone manual. This site is SAFE and requires Adobe.I use it all the time, have no problems, and is very useful.Although I have read it,you know more about your phone's functions than I do.After reading the entire thing,I am referring you to a few possible solutions which may enable you to accomplish what you are requesting.Under your T7316E telephone, letters C and H have potential.A section labeled Button inquiry also has potential. Also, under programming memory buttons there is an option for features which does not seem promising but with current technology you just never know.lol.Good luck! Greg I hope this really helps. If not, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and will reply ASAP.P.S.You do not need to enter an email,it will download.

My canon fax line comes on after five rings. I want it to be changed to not come on at all only when I want to send a f

I see two solutions to this:
1) Subscribe to a ring pattern detection service via your phone company, and then set the fax to recognize the Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection (DRPD) , or
2) Put an answering machine in line with your fax that answers the phone after fewer than 5 rings. The answering machine will intercept any inbound calls.

T7316E - Phones just installed. None of them ring.

You need to ensure that the main bell is programmed to ring, also that the extensions are also programmed to ring as well. Also check that the ringer is switched on, on the base of the telephones. Also ensure your handsets to not go over the ren value permitted. Make sure the service is on the correct day service and not night service. Check that the handsets ring internally and ensure they are registered with the system. Ensure that the connections and wiring are also correct,

You need software version 6.1 or above rod Distinctive Ring tone for lines. programming via Config/Lines/Data

You can setup night services for each company via Service Modes.
Complex programming.

best to call a vendor/tech in for this....roughly one hour call.

Rings twice and goes to general mailbox

Just have to go into vmail system and change the the number of rings till the vmail system answers (in this case 4); check your greeting table make sure the right one is assigned to the lines in question (each line can have a diiferent one or the same); and also make sure the right greeting is assigned to the greeting table you want to use.
Do you have a program manual? If so, it has some sample proramms that would give you a "picture" of this is done, plus flow charts.

My phone rings a half a ring then stops. The

you more than likely have "short rings" turned on, in the options of that phone. you'll have to go into the options menu, and look for setting that pertain to ringing and / or rings or ring length.....DON'T change DTMF tones though, that'll get annoying, as thats what you hear when you are calling someone else. hope this helps.

I want the fax to work with an identa ring. How do I program this? As it is now I have to turn on the fax to receive. Does this HP work with identa ring?

The following set up assumes you have one conventional phone line, but two different phone numbers. One being your regular phone number and the other a distinctive ring for your fax machine

If that is what you have then this is how you set up the phone. Its important to know what type of distinctive ring your phone company will send to your phone. If it doesn't work you can talk to them about getting a different one than their default distinctive ring.

2 Set the HP all-in-one to answer incoming calls automatically.

Press the Auto Answer button until the light is on.

3 Change the Answer Ring Pattern setting to the pattern that has been assigned to your fax number by the telephone company, for example, double rings or triple rings.
For information on changing this setting, see Change the answer ring pattern
(distinctive ringing).
Note Your HP all-in-one is factory-set to answer all ring patterns. If you do not set the correct ring pattern assigned to your fax number by the telephone company, your HP all-in-one might answer both voice calls and fax calls or it might not answer at all.

4 (Optional) Change the Rings to Answer setting to one ring or two rings.

For information on changing this setting, see Set the number of rings before answering.
5 Run a fax test. For information, see Test your fax setup.
Your HP all-in-one will automatically answer incoming calls that have the ring pattern you selected (Answer Ring Pattern setting) after the number of rings you selected (Rings to Answer setting). Then it will begin emitting fax reception tones to the sending
fax machine and receive the fax.

If it is easier or you want to know other options which may be more applicable to your phone setup. You can find that information here.
