SOURCE: Lines through negative scans

Clean the glass surface with Iso propyl alcohol (Industrial grade is enough). Dont use any solvent. Just for immediate usage, you can use your aftershave and clean. Clen with a soft cloth.

SOURCE: Epson 2450 Perfection Photo Scanner

The Epson film holders hold the film 1 mm (.039") above the glass scanning window. You could cut and glue 1 mm plastic sheets to make your own holder if you can't get the originals from Epson. I'm making one now that will hold more than a single frame of 120 film, which is all the original Epson holder would take.

The 35mm strips won,t fit in my holder how should I be inserting them in the holder

The holder that takes 35 mm negative strips on one side and 4, 35 mm slides on the other has a plastic frame that holds the 35 mm film in place. To load film you have to first remove that frame by putting your finger in the opening by the large "A" and popping that end up. The frame fits in only one direction and must be clipped back in by first engaging the two small fingers into openings at the end opposite to the "A" and the lowering the retainer down snapping the 3 sets of 3 clips as you work toward the "A".

How do I turn old negatives that won't fit the holder into photos? They are 3.5" x 2" or 82 x 57 mm for you kids!

That model does not support scanning those size negatives - only 35mm strips or slides.

Where do i put the negative to scan on hp g3010 scanner

On the lid there are thin plastic rails that frame two 35mm Negatives. Place the film in that holder, framing what you wish.

Check HP's site for the owners manual for advanced settings for your specific model to get the best results from your Negative or as HP calls it Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA)

I am tring to scan my 35mm negatives

Select scan. When the window pops up look in the upper right hand corner of the window. You will see select source: drop down menu give you choices which includes negative film. Just select it. Then drop negatives into holder. Oh, make sure you remove the cover sheet that slides in and out of the cover.

Scanned negatives are not sharp.

One workaround is this: use the holder for the negatives as a guide but not as a holder as such.
To do this, place the film negative directly on the glass plate, then put the negative holder (completely assembled) on top of it; align the film and the holder so that the frames on the filmstrip line up with the marks on the holder correctly.
Now, close the lid and follow the normal procedure for scanning negatives. They're noticeably sharper this way, suggesting that the scanner's focus is set for items placed directly on the glass plate. I have no idea why focus isn't adjusted correctly for negatives, which site a millimetre or two above the glass.

Loading batteries

Most Nikon manual focus cameras I see have the same battery chamber, and their battery loading procedure are exactly the same. Use a coin to unscrew the battery chamber at the buttom, the batteries should be instered into the battery holder (the unscrewed part) , with negative end goes in first. Also refer to the battery insertion direction on the side of the plastic part of the battery holder you will find it :)
