Yellow Light When I turn the PS3 on, I get a quick yellow light and then back to a red light. The system will not turn on. Only beeps a couple of times.

If your PS3 console attempts to turn on, then beeps and a yellow light comes on and then your Sony PlayStation 3 shuts down or does not power on at all or shows no video means YLOD or Yellow Light Of death has occurred! A guy had same problem with His console 6 months back, He was able to fix it for 15 bucks ! without sending it to Sony for costly repair.

If your system:
1. Beeps three times
2. Blinks the Red LED light
3. Flashes a quick Yellow LED before turning Red

Your system might have experienced the "Yellow Light of Death". This is usually a sign that the system has overheated. Try turning off and unplugging your system from the power outlet and leaving it for a couple of hours.

If the system still doesn't turn on/boot up after a couple of hours, you should contact Sony (especially if you are still in warranty).

If your system is no longer in warranty and you know how to tinker with electronics AND given that your system is the old "Fat" version, then you could try fixing the system yourself.

Since the YLoD or "Yellow Light of Death" is a general hardware failure, given that if your problem is with some components of your system (such as the GPU's solder/thermal paste getting dry/broken) it can be fixed through a couple of procedures.

This is due to your fan inside your ps3. It has failed, or is failing and is causing a system failure. Unfortunatly it cannot be fixed. it will need to be replaced.

The yellow light is also know as the yellow light of death casued by a hardware failure. It can be casued ny over heating a bluray drive failure, a hard drive failure or even a powersupply failure. You know you have it when you power up the yellow light flashes then you hear some beeps then the red llight flashes. I would suggest returning it if you have that option or getting it fixed somewhere else as a last option.

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.

This is the yellow light of death i got it some time ago and had to buy a new ps3 there is a way to fix it but i costs more than a new ps3 i had to buy a new one so your screw lol.

i am sorry to say this but you have a irreversible condition called: The yellow light of death, similar to the X-Box's red ring of doom! you will have to buy a new ps3 sadly, but this only happens to about 1% of ps3, so your odds are better.

this is the ps3 equivilent of the xbox360s red ring of death error, sorry to tell you but that means a serious system error has killed your ps3 its unfixable and you will have to send it off for a replacement

your ps3 is done. this is known as the yellow light of death.

Keeping hitting the on switch really quick. Keep doing it for a while till you hear a couple beeps in a row. It's like jump starting a car all of a sudden it will contact. It is the button on the ps3 that have the problem.
