Check in general settings to ensure all boxes are marked green for keyboard settings ...check or uncheck split keyboard,

Hold down the keyboard icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen, and it should say, "Dock and Merge." Click that, and it will go back to an unsplit screen.

Try putting your iPad into DFU mode, and then restore it with a computer with iTunes installed.

Please note: this will erase and delete everything on the iPad.

Press and hold this button and two options appear- undock and split. Undock will pull the keyboard halfway up the screen for this exact purpose, split will cut the keyboard in half like an ergonomic keyboard. For people who text frequently and find themselves typing with their ipad in their hands; this is a friendly option! Naturally thumb texters have split the qwerty keyboard mentally and will find this a very convenient option when needing to type with only their thumbs. You have put the keyboard into split mode. You can split the iPad's keyboard in two by either tapping and holding on the 'toggle keyboard' button on the lower-right, or simply pulling the keyboard apart at the middle.


You can put it back to normal by pinching the keyboard back together or by tapping the button on the lower right.
