My Fujifilm Finepix S1000 has a black LCD monitor.

I replaced the batteries and camera comes on, displays Fujifilm logo in the monitor, then goes black. It worked fine when put away yesterday. Owner's manual is no help.

The black spot i suspect was the CCD or processor failing. Checkout Nikon customer support re this.

Try these:
1) Make sure the lens cap is off. When the camera fires up, if it feels any resistance, it will stop zooming and tell you "zoom error"
2) Recharge or fit new batteries. Use 2700 power if you can get them.
3)Is there a bit of dirt between the zoom part and the camera body? I had this problem after my camera had been in my overcoat pocket. I cleared it out with a stiff artist's brush. Do NOT use WD 40 or similar, as I found to my cost on another camera. It eventually seeped through to the works and made all the pics cloudy!
4) Hold the camera body in one hand and gently wiggle the zoom part from side to side and up to down. You will hear a quiet click in the mechanism.
I have used my S1000fd lots now, and the initial "zoom error" problems have stopped.
It's a fine little camera, I especially like the 12x zoom and the live histogram. Mine has taught me lots about photography.

Try pressing the EVF/LCD button. It could be that you've mistakenly changed to the view to viewfinder only???

SOURCE: FUJIFILM FINEPIX S5000.No image on viewfinder or LCD.

I think there is a small button on the back of the camera near the bottom that turns the viewfinder off and on I think. It should be in the manual.
It might have gotten bumped while in the bag.

Lcd broken.Any chance to change lcd.

yes LCD's are a pain to replace on your own but luckily I'm here to help... please remember to rate me for helping you

the easiest way is to buy a new LCD

such as here:
finepix-f30-digital-camera-repairing-lcd-display-screen-replacement.html">http://www.ownta.com/fujifilm-finepix-f30-digital-camera-repairing-lcd-display-screen-replacement.html
or on ebay:

Follow link to ebay vendor: Most lcd display screens are available

or you could build your own but without a ton of experience, this is more of a challenge than it's worth.

I hope this helps :)

Finepix S1000fd just suddenly quit working...

I'm not sure how old this is, but I had this identical problem on my Fujifilm Finepix S1500 and the solution was embarrasingly easy and it may be related to this same problem. If your camera has a viewfinder, see if there's an image there. If so, look to see if you have a EVF/LCD button or something similar on the back of the camera. If so, press it. What had happened with me is that my wife likes using the viewfinder for framing and she presses that button to turn off the rear LCD and on the viewfinder. Maybe the button got pressed accidentally. Press it again and it should switch back. Hopefully this is the solution.
