On your camera there is a multi selector. On the left is a clock icon. Select that and press OK. Frame the picture area and press the shutter button half way down to focus. Press the shutter button fully down and you have approximately 10 seconds before the picture is taken. If it is on a tripod, turn vibration stabilization off prior to taking the picture, for better results.

The instruction manual is quite poor. Once you have decided which option you would like (2 or 10 seconds) you must go back to the main menu to select which drive mode you would like. Single is default. From single, you can select self-timer, which will activate it for your next shot. The drive mode will always reset back to single after every shot so you'll need to set this up for every self-timed shot.

Press the center "FUNC SET " button.
Press the up or down arrow buttons to select "DRIVE MODE".
Press right or left arrow buttons to select the desired time.

on the top of the camera, there is a dial which says QUAL, WB and ISO. Look for button and ring just below this. It should say S, CL, CH, Lv, a clock and Mup. Press the button to release the ring and rotate it to the clock icon to activate self timer

Turn on the camera, click menu button. The first option is a little clock picture on the left, and on the right top corner of the screen it should say "self timer". Click the little button on the dial with your thumb and a menu comes up "self timer ON, OFF". Move up, click "ON" and it is set for your next photo to self shoot. You have to do this for each photo.
