This problem appears to be that the scanlamp cable has fatigued and become open-circuit. This can be checked by selecting A3 and pressing the START button while having the lid up. Watch to see if the light stays on all the way through the forward pass of scan cycle, it can be intermittent. Make sure that the machine is unplugged before attempting to replace the cable.The drum is definitely on its way out at that amount of copies, but can be made to last a fair bit longer with some fine-tuning.

I had this same problem but after while it went away - so my solution would be to just keep using it, and perhaps it will solve itself.

Did you try wiping clean the glass? also wipe the strip by the scanner glass?

try moving the small blue slider on top of the drum cartridge side to side 10 times.

there are a couple of things that can do this. but my first guess would be to take drum unit out and locate blue plastic tab, then slide the tab back and forth several times, making sure you return tab to the same side it was originally on. if that doesn't do it, make sure your "****" glass to the left of your large glass under your feeder is good and clean.
