Perhaps the crash was caused by a defect in the tablet, and the same defect is keeping you from working with it. I would suggest to bring it to a tech, or when it is still under warranty bring it back to the shop where you bought it. Or at least consult the seller.

That's because it's simply not powerful enough to handle ios8. I know apple gave the update but unless they give a new bug fixing update to fix the crashing, your stuck with ios8 and a crashing iPad.
I have my iPad 2 with ios7 and I'm not planning to update it.

Assuming this app is on an iOS device (Apple).
