I am trying to get direction and code for a universal rca remote but my tv is a scepter.

RCA has no set-up code to direct TV. To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.

Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some online sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts

The universal remote control codes for Scepter TV are 0085/0036/0023/0358/0451. Try these codes. If you can sync these codes to your TV, check this link for more details. it has setup codes and setup proceedings to different models of remote controls.

I cannot locate one for Vizio tv....

I had a similar problem with a 1994 vintage Broksonic TV. I called the company (Hatzlachh Supply Inc. @ 800-333-9099). Broksonic TVs are not compatable with any universal remotes! You need an original factory remote. Remote for my set cost $20.00 plus shipping for a total of $24.95.
