Yikes, that is definitely a rare problem! Unfortunately those power drive assemblies are not made to be repaired, just replaced.

I am wondering if you have purchased the correct belt- there are two belts on your machine. Go to this site and have a look at the belts there. Also, if youno longer have your manual you can download one from this site with your MODEL # and it should have instructions on installing the correct belt. Good luck to you.

Replace belt on Electrolux Epic 2500 SR Upright

1. Start by removing the screws that secure the bottom plate of your vacuum. 2. Once the bottom plate is removed, you will find the belt inside, as well as the belt pulley and drive wheels. 3. Disconnect the belt from the belt pulley. 4. Align the new belt over the belt pulley and drive wheels so that the teeth of the belt match up with the grooves on the pulley. 5. Wrap the belt around the pulley and drive wheels, and then reattach the belt to the pulley with the supplied clips. 6. Reassemble the vacuum and you're done!

The wheel that connects both belts broke

The drive pulley can be replaced, however I would only recommend being service by a vac shop professional who has experience with the Hoover Self Propelled models.

Forward/back cable broke

The cable is user replaceable, but you will need to contact Hoover, or a parts center, to purchase the cable. You will remove the Upper Handle by removing the black screws at the base of the upper handle fit to lower handle (on back).
You will also have to remove the hood to loosen the one screw that holds the cable to the powerdrive gearbox.

Belt Stretched on my Hoover Windtunnel Farrington upright model U6431-900

hi, In order to to replace the V belt the one that turns the brush, One must take off the bigger belt " drive belt" that goes over that hugh wheel towards the back. When a belt gets stretched they will not turn the brush very well. If you have bought replacement belts the bigger belt Drive comes 2 in a package. Then you have your little V belt that helps turn your roller brush over. Yes the belts don't last long on my hoover. For kpatr22101 When you rpelace that V belt it goes over the roller brush into a little groove on the brush and then over a plastic round wheel then you must put on that bigger drive belt that must fit over that hugh wheel towards back and smaller on in front. Yes it is hard to get on. the I hope this helps. Cindy G.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE DRIVE BELT ON A HOOVER WIND TUNNEL SELF PROPELLED

Take the brush belt and slip it over the pull into the groove. Then take the flat belt and hook onto the motor shaft and then pull belt over pull and push it around the entire pulley. It can be difficult but after the first time it is easy. You have to push the belt up with your thumbs so the belt will wrap all the way around

How do you replace the belt? I took off the door and there seems to be no easy way to get it over the lower red wheel.

Take off belt cover on the left side of the top cover, turn cleaner over, take out screw from red lock and remove, pull cap and brush roll out, unhook the cogged belt, then you can replace the pump belt thru that opening. Put belt over the pump pulley and stretched to go over the motor shaft. Then check the cogged belt and the cogged end of the pully to make sure that there are cogs, replace belt if there are cogss missing or belt is broke, if no cogs on the pulley, then you will have to replace the pump. Pulley only comes witht he pump.

I replaced the agitator bar drive belt on a Hoover Model U6432-900 upright vacuum cleaner, but it just slips when the drive wheel is spinning. Is there an adjustment I need to make? I don't see any...

You probably should have replaced the flat belt(38528035) also. But the drive belt has a idler wheel(#13) to engage it, is it riding on the belt, if not if may have jammed to one side and able to spring up against the V belt. It could have broke also.
