Give the machine a good clean out. Run a cycle with the addition of white vinegar, and then change your washing powder or liquid. You can also add a booster product to the wash cycle.

SOURCE: Washer is turning my white clothes gray

Oil from transmission is a good possibility. The machine is still young but sounds like you do a lot with the washer. Better have a friend that don't mind looking it over, make sure that's oil and go from there!

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:

SOURCE: White streaks on dark clothes after washing.

Reduce the load !!

You are getting white streaks because the clothes are so compressed the machine is not agitating them correctly.

My daughter gets the same problem and she still insists on packing the clothes in.

My wife washes the same clothes for her with the right load and they come out fine

SOURCE: smell coming from washing machine

IMPORTANT: Read thoroughly. DO NOT add detergent or other laundry products to this cycle.
1. Remove all items from the washer.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and 2/3 cup (160 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. DO NOT use more than 2/3 cup (160mL) of bleach per cycle as this will lead to product damage.
3. Close the washer door and dispenser drawer.
4. Select the Clean Washer cycle or a full wash cotton 104 F wash (40 C). DO NOT use any higher temperature as this will cause unnecessary fumes
5. Press Start and allow cycle to complete.
6. If the bad odour persists, repeat the procedure 1 or 2 more times. This may be necessary if this is the first time you have run this cycle.
7. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
8. Repeat the cleaning procedure monthly.
To maintain the washer freshness:
1. Use only HE High Efficiency detergent.
2. Leave the door open after each cycle to for better ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
3. Use warm / hot water in your machine unless the fabric you are washing requires cold.
4. Use the correct amount of fabric softener.
5. If your laundry room is damp, use a dehumidifier.
6. Clean the door seal of visible residue.

Hi my 1300 washing machine does not washing properly what is causing it

Why is my washing machine not washing properly?
A common reason why your washing machines is not cleaning clothes properly is because the line leading from the detergent tray to the drum has become clogged up with washing up powder. This means that just a small amount of detergent actually reaches the drum - the rest of it becomes stuck behind the blockage.

How do i prevent colour bleed from fabrics?

You can't. Best option is not to mix colors with white when doing hot wash. Generally colors on own go well with cold wash with the right detergent. When you get new colored clothes like pyjamas rinse separately overnight to get non fast colors out and then put in the general laundry. But always keep whites on separate wash.

A co-worker sold me this washer: model MAV6250Aww, ser# 20480262zu; that had just sat in storage for a while. Washed clothes came out with a lot of lint- even after a repairman "cleaned" it out. Any...

These washer are notorious for linting, there is no real solution, reduce wash time to bare minimum, try sorting clothes into different categories, whites separate washed from dark clothes, use good quality detergent. The only way to fix this problem completely is a neutral drain kit, I do not believe Maytag sells one.

Dirt after washing

WASH PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
12.1 Creasing
Creasing can be caused by over loading SmartDrive or the dryer. Permanent Press or Delicate
cycles have been designed to minimise creasing as they use a lower spin speed. Do not leave wet
clothes to sit in the washer or laundry basket.
12.2 Soiling
Soiling is the result of insufficient detergent for the load. White clothes are better washed
separately. Separate lightly and heavily soiled items, as clothes can pick up soil from dirty wash
water. Cold water below 20oC does not wash effectively. Select the wash temperature according
to soil type. For example, blood and mud are better washed in cold water, while sweat and oil
based soil wash better in warmer water. Loads made up of articles of varying sizes will wash
better (e.g. full loads of sheets may not wash that well). Hard water requires more detergent than
soft water.
12.3 Linting
Wash lint givers (eg. towels, flannelette sheets) separately from lint collectors (eg. synthetic
fabrics). Over loading SmartDrive can increase the likelihood of linting. Insufficient detergent for
the load can increase linting as there will not be enough detergent to hold the lint in suspension.
Over drying synthetic fabrics in a dryer can cause a build-up of static electricity and result in the
fabrics attracting lint.
12.4 Detergent Residue
Over loading SmartDrive can result in detergent residue being caught in the creases of the
fabrics. If this occurs, decrease the load size. Some detergents need to be pre-dissolved. Check
the instructions for the detergent. Cold ambient temperatures, cold washes or short agitation times
may not let the detergent dissolve properly. In these cases pre-dissolve the detergent.
Overdosing of detergent can also cause residue when foam breaks down and will show as white
specs on the clothing. Poor quality detergents can result in residue.
12.5 Black Marks on Clothes
A build up caused by the interaction of fabric softener and detergent (scrud) can flake off and mark
clothes. Do not use too much fabric softener, maximum 75cc. If this is a problem, it is
recommended that SmartDrive is periodically filled with hot water, plus 1-2 cups of dishwasher
powder and left to soak.
12.6 Grey Marks on Clothes
Not enough detergent for the amount of soil on the clothes can result in grey marks on clothes. If
this is a problem it is recommended that SmartDrive is periodically filled with hot water, plus
detergent and left to soak.
12.7 Dye Transfer
Wash and dry non-colourfast clothes separately. Non colourfast clothes left sitting in a washer or
laundry basket can transfer dye to other clothes.
12.8 Tangling
Washing with too much water (i.e. under loading) can cause the clothes to tangle around each
other. Do not load SmartDrive by wrapping clothes around the agitator.

STAINED WHITE T-SHIRTS, DULL LINEN

Hi! I am a habitual cleaning type person and clean clothes rate at the top of my list. I have 4 recommendations that SHOULD help tremendously for ALL your clothes but is most evident in your whites.
#1 is the right washer. I NEVER knew how clean my clothes could come out till the past year and a half I finally bought front loader. And let me tell you was I ever surprised at how clean and soft they were, LIKE NEW! Those old top loaders, even the new ones are no comparison to the front loading systems. BUT expensive if you have to go out and buy a new one BUT also a GOOD excuse to tell hubby you need a new one...LOL
#2 Always use liquid detergents, they seem to wash and rinse out so much better than any powder
#3 A HUGE helping hand I discovered some 30 years back that I STILL have not found that can be beat is "BIZ" bleach. It's miraculous! It's a great pre-treater to soak badly needed whites in and helps to retain bright colors if used in non-white laundry. Actually I even use it in a powder form. AFter loading all my clothes in m y front loader I scoop out a cup and actually scatter it OVER my laundry. Then add the liquid detergent (Tide or the like, I get mine at Costco or Sam's club depending on what region you live in) and wash like normal.
#4 Last but not least, for whites and ALL colors I have found nothing better than DAWN dish washing liquid. Immediately pre-treat ANY stain no matter the size with Dawn and just fold it over and toss it in the laundry. Best if washed within the same week at the latest.
GOOD LUCK to all you Domestic Goddesses! ;-)~

Smelly clothes and machine!

Do you wash whites separately or with bleach? Sometimes changing up the loads to whites with bleach would kill the germs.

How to soak white clothes over nite. have a new ge front loader washer.

You don't have to do the soaking. Use powders for 'front loading machines'. Read your users' manual. There will be settings for woolen clothes, cottons, quick wash, long wash,etc......
