Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary

SOURCE: my sony bravia tv is flashing red stand by light

Try leaving the TV unpugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you flashing red light codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

SOURCE: Sony Vega KDF-E5OA10,picture will not come on, tv goes off.

There is a real good chance that the lamp fan is not turning. If you look with a flashlight in the vent on the left side looking at the rear of the set and have someone turn on the unit, see if it spins. if it doesnt, the protect circuit in the tv will not let the set turn on. Replacing the fan will cure the proplem if it is not turning.
Hope this helps,

SOURCE: sony bravia tv not working

Hi Elaine!

Please follow the steps mentioned below to troubleshoot the issue:
If the TV standby light is blinking for five times then you may perform the steps given below:
(i) Turn off the TV then disconnect all the cables from the TV.
(ii) Next, reconnect all the cables after two minutes.
(iii) Please make sure that the power cable from the TV is directly connected to a functional wall outlet.
(iv) Next, you may try resetting the TV to the original factory settings.

Please follow the steps that are mentioned below to reset the TV to the original factory settings:

(a) Turn ON the TV.
(b) Press and hold the Power button on the Remote Control supplied with the TV, then press the Power button on the TV front panel.
(c) Release the Power button. The TV will turn itself off, then back ON again.
(d) Next, release the Reset button on the Remote control.

If the standby light still blinks then the issue may be with the projection lamp in the TV and requires replacement.

Sony bravia kdl55hx729 3d led tv turns on 3 seconds shows picture than four red flashes

Hello,
the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.
Good Luck!

  • This model had a problem with the lamp door warping from the heat.

Remove the door and hold it edgewise to see if warped..

There is a peg on the back of the door that engages a lever when the door is closed---if door warped set will not come on.

A simple way to confirm or deny this is to use something not metal to with the door removed ENGAGE and hold the lever forward.

DO NOT IF THE THIS SET COMES ON LOOK AT THE LIGHT OR OPERATE IT FOR PROLONGED PERIODS OF TIME.

Do not put the outer shield cover back on without the door as heat can get it also.

If set comes on with door lever engaged you need to replace the door--widely available on the internet and or from Sony---not a bad idea to buy a spare one.

let me know what happens.
