The signal meter should show you available TV transmitters. If you have received a signal at this location before and you definitely are sure it is powered up the antenna is defective. Check for anything that appears loose or broken. If the meter indicates a signal check the cable that goes to the TV.

Antenna not working anymore?

talk with a tv technician as to the capabilities of the tv set but you may need a better outdoor antenna if the signal has changed from am to digital or fm in your viewing area

Do I need a TV Technician for NoSignal sign on digital TV ?

If you are dealing with OTA signal, you need to check a few things yourself. First, check that your antenna hasn't rotated out of alignment with your local transmitters. If you have only recently gone to OTA TV, use http://www.antennaweb.org or http://www.tvfool.com to check where your antenna should be positioned. (tvfool.com gives a more complete list of channels for most areas. antennaweb gives a very conservative list, even though it assumes an outdoor antenna.) Check your antenna wire(s) for damage. Sometimes the center wire in RG-59/RG-6 gets damaged as the wire is connected to the port on the TV or jack. Make sure that the surrounding shielding isn't damaged. Try a new cable (particularly if the connector was recently added/replaced).

Next what type of antenna are you using? If you have an amplified antenna, check if the amplifier has power. If you can, disconnect the antenna from the amplifier and check if the signal has enough signal strength for the TV tuner. (Also remove any splitters for a similar test.) I've seen amplifiers get hit by a power surge and turn into filters that block the signal.

You may need a different antenna. Outdoor antennas are recommended if your stations are more than 20 miles away or there are tall buildings, mountains, or trees between you and the station transmitters.

Next, if possible, check if the tuner from another TV can pick up the signal. Different tuners have different sensitivity limits. If that is the case, try an amplifier on the incoming signal.

If none of these tips help, you may need a technician to check things out. I hope this helps.

No TV broadcast picture. Is this a tuner problem?

yes it does seem to be a tuner problem , I also wonder what happens when you use the auto channel finder and tuner usually found in the set up section of the menu ? As well as was your TV working before and receiving input via the antennae but has now stopped working in this regard ? I also noted that attaching an analog to digital converter box worked fine , so your TV is capable of receiving a signal via that method , dose the converter box use your antennae input jack or a video jack to send the converted signal into your TV ? if it is using your antennae jack then it may not be a tuner problem .

Can't pick up ant ditgital signals, why not

First what make/model of TV do you have? Does it have a digital tuner? (Manufactures had to add digital tuners at various times depending on the TV size)

Next what type of antenna or cable (basic, digital) do you have and how is it connected to the TV? Is it an indoor or outdoor antenna and is it pointed at your area stations? See antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for details on where your local OTA stations are. (Note: antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but is very conservative in their list.) Antennas can be turned by the wind.

Do you have an amplifier or a splitter in the system?

First, remove the amplifier or splitter and try a direct connection to the TV. (I've had amplified splitters turn into signal filters after they failed. Then they gave no signal out from certain bands. Many areas only have UHF digital stations.)

Next check your cables for damage and try replacing cables. (I recently had a cable in the wall get damaged and had to rewire that outlet. The TV got good signal if I ran a direct line across the floor to another coax jack.) Alternatively, try connecting the TV to a different coax jack.

The final thing to check is the TV's inputs. They can fail. (I lost a few analog TV tuners to a lightning surge.)

I hope this helps.

As suggested by FCC, I moved the antenna to the other side of the TV, facing south, where the transmission tower is, but the picture and sound are still breaking up. Do I need to move the antenna closer...

Is the antenna suitable for digital TV signals?
The TV signal is weak, if the antenna is an un-powered device then I suggest you get a powered antenna, this will amplify the signal.
Moving the antenna closer to the window will help.

Tried to rescan after digital change over and it wont keep the signal, i have digital tv and digital ariel

Sounds like you have weak signal in your area, unlike analog TV , if the signal strength is below a certain level it will completely reject channals, try a standard antenna with two rabbit ears and a loop. If your TV has a signal strength meter you can watch that while adjusting the antenna.

Tv suddenly shows no audio and no video for digital channles only yet all digital channles are detected durring the channel search

Sounds like you have a bad signal from the antenna or the cable. Unlike analog TV if the signal level drops below a certain level you loose the picture and sound completely. The fact that digital channels are detected during channel search does not mean they have a good signal. Try moving the antenna about.
