How can I turn off CC on my SONY 52XBR. I used the Remote control settings and selected off on the cc display, but the cc never turns off. I also used the menu button on the side of the T.V to select CC off, no help. Very annoying
If Closed Captioning is being displayed even though the CC option in the TV menu is set to Off , then it is being produced by another device, such as a cable or satellite set-top box. To remove the Closed Captioning from the TV screen, it must be disabled on the device that is decoding the Closed Captioned signal.
NOTE: Some set-top boxes may automatically display Closed Captioning on the TV screen when the set-top box sound is muted. If this is the case, turn off the Mute function of the set-top box

Try a master reset on the TV. With the TV powered on, prss and hold down the up button on the remote (there are 4 buttons grouped together for up down left and right) and while holding down the up button, press the power button on the TV. The unit should power off and then turn back on and ask you to select a language. Let me know if this helps and be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
SOURCE: I have a new sony kdl40v5100 flat screen. My power
turn off the cable box but leave the tv on,push the menu button for the cable remote while the box is off and that white screen will appear.shut off the CC switch. It was not the tv's fault but it was in the cable box.

This also happened to me and may continue to get worse... If it goes away for a while after warming up, then it is the same problem... The LCD panel is probably going out, when that happens the cost to repair it is more than the tv is worth... If it is in warranty then you can have it replaced or fixed.

I had this same issue, and solved it by putting the TV in "Theater Mode', which can be acheived by hitting the "Theater" button on the remote.

6 times blinking standby light indicates problem with Audio Section in tv
Check AU 15V output of G2 (power supply) board then check AU board as it has sound processor and sound output ICs.
If you are not familiar with electronics stuff repair then call local tv repairman to repair it for you.
Thanks.
Testimonial: " I diconnected the power to the AU board but the problem remained. I am assuming that the 15V output is for the AU board only. Any other suggestion?"
