My iPad 1 needs ios6 so that I can install certain apps I need.
Unfortunately you can only update to 5.1.1 for the ipad1
Unfortunately the first gen iPad only supports up to iOS 5.1.1. Your only other options are to find similar apps with lower requirements, or replace your iPad with a newer version.

When you exceed your allowed pages for apps, they will still install, but app cannot be created for lack of pages. You can get more room by grouping similar apps into 1 folder to make space. You can also use search function to fill any app installed.Scroll all pages to right until keyboard appears, then type name of app,it will appear in dropdown list.
