Just bought a frigidaire freezer. For the first two days after shutting the door it would make a high pitched noise very similar to what you will hear on the below video at you tube. Would last about 20 seconds then stop. Now the noise has stopped completely - the freezer seems to be working fine but should I get a replacement while I can ( at no cost ) or not , just to be safe ? What would cause it to make this noise ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F754-zzvYhs

The compressor is overheating and not starting. Could be just the start relay. If this happens again try unplugging it for about an hour then it should work for a while. Heat between doors is normal this is an electric heater designed to keep the doors from sweating. You just noticed it because the refrigerator wasn't cold.

at 6 years old it certainly aint new!
from what you describe, sounds like a compressor fault

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

Check the freezer fan by opening the freezer door and pressing the door switch and listing for the freezer fan sound. If no sound then the fan motor could be bad.
Look at the back wall too see if you have frost build up. If you do then you have a defrost problem.
If thees are not your problem you could have a seal system problem. (( freon leak ))

try cleaning vents/drain holes in whole unit this should allow more air to flow.also when did you last manually defrost whole unit.....
Testimonial: "thx for the recommendation"
Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!
I see that your Frigidaire freezer is making noise and you have recently defrosted it, but your freezer is still making the noise. Your freezer will make certain noises which are normal operating noises for the freezer.
The compressor is a high efficiency so you may hear it during start up and while running. Additionally, refrigerant circulating through your freezer can make a tapping sound or even a gurgling noise. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt
