When using our Sony Bravia to display pictures from an Asus Revo 70 nettop via HDMI, the picture often goes into reverse video - any idea what might be wrong, please ?

The problem only occurs when using the TV when displaying video from the nettop - normal TV & input from Virgin Media through the same HDMI port work o.k.

There is no obvious answer. Do you mean it goes 'negative' i.e blacks are white and vice versa?
It could be any number of reasons ranging from faulty graphics adapter in the pc, dodgy hdmi cable, incorrectly set up laptop or a video driver update required etc.
Any chance you could try it with a combination of a different tv set, a different hdmi cable to see if it narrows it down. Try changing the nettop output settings to different resolution. Is the resolution set correctly?
You are going to need to narrow it down. Also open the graphics control panel and check the settings.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia KDL52XBR5 picture blanks out using HDMI port

I think this has to do with the cable box not liking the encryption thing going on with the sony tv. The cable boxes probably don't understand it fully and therefore you have intermittant problems. I would just use component inputs. Which are analog and no encryption problems. I hope this was helpful. I bet it doesn't happen using a sony DVD Player or a blue ray DVD Player either. Sony, Sony, Sony.....Good stuff...but they have their moments. Let me know if u come up with a fix for this and then i will post it on my fix it list.. Thank you again..GURU JAY

SOURCE: Sony BRAVIA KDL-40W4000

Hi there,

I've been looking into this myself as I've also recently purchased the KDL-40W4000. I was watching a murky old film and was getting a bit of sludgy ghosting but found that by reducing the contrast to 25, setting the backlight on low, colour on neutral and the brightness about 40-60 (and taking ALL advanced noise functions off), this reduced the ghosting considerably.

BUT, this is quite a cool and dark image. If you watch standard TV and films mainly, a variation of the Cinema setting is probably the best overall setting i.e.

backlight: min
contrast: 79
brightness: 50
colour: 53
colour temp: Warm 2 (although Warm 1 is less yellow and still fine)
sharpness: min
noise reduction: off
mpeg nr: off
contrast enhancer: off
colour space: standard

SOURCE: No picture on Memorex MLTD3222 flat panel LCD.

I recently got this tv from somone because of this exact problem. I have found a solution that works for mine. You can check to see if it works for you also. What I did was take of the back cover. 3 screws (1 big one in the center and 2 little ones below it). Next look at the power board. If plugged in and turned on the red light on the power board should be lit up. If so your power board is fine. Next find the component that has 4 switches. I manually turned these on and turned the tv on and it worked! Has been working ever since!

Philips blu ray bdp2205, no picture when connecting to Sony bravia via HDMI cable. Works on other TV just fine. Help!

Make sure that your input on your Bravia is selected to the HDMI input that you are connected to; and that HDMI video output is enabled. If after doing that you still do not have picture from it then try another HDMI input.

Sony bravia 37ex524

check source setting via remote. If you have digital television then DTV most likely should be the source. If using HDMI on a Video player then HDMI1 check if video player cable is plugged into HDMI1 if you have one.

Hi I have a sony Bravia LCd which has one HDMI socket and that is linked to my sony home theatre , the problem I have is to link my Ps 3 via the the Sony home theatre, it has two inputs and I am connectibg...

What kind of discs r you using? Blu-ray players enforce on the wire encryption called HDCP. I got a call from a customer who was trying to use a cable box and ps3 hooking up to some splitter, then to a single HDMI on the tv. Turns out he was possibly breaking the handshake between the source and the television. Try a non copyrighted video, like a burned copy of a dvd or a home video. and see what happens.

DVD Does not work when using HDMI from Philips TV to Bravia

You could see if they will exchange just the unit and save both of you the hastle of checking and repackingit all. It does sound like the unit is faulty.
Or if your Bravia has more than one HDMI input then try on another, or a friends tv if you know some one with a HDMI tv in working order.

Sony KDL 46V2500

This set does have a video problem. If it was bought locally, then, the retailer may have a 30 day return policy. If bought online or cannot be returned, then, contact Sony, for a service center in your location: http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do Either way the set is to new to have a problem and you should get it resolved as soon as possible.
