Freezer builds up ice/frost everywhere

Had online chat with Samsung. Did as directed-unplugged, removed food, removed ice with hair dryer, wiped all surfaces with clean cloth, returned food and then plugged fridge back in. Set temp to recommended -2F. Frost building back up already. Now what?

Check heater element, it should read apr. 93 to 98 ohm. Unplug fridge before testing,if OK then you are looking for faulty control board.

You probably have a faulty defrost heating element, a service call to a Samsung specialist will fix the problem.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG RS253BAWW NOT WORKING

the ice maker wont cycle untill the temp of the ice is around 10 degrees so if the freezer is at 15 or 20 due to some other malfunction then you will see the maker full of ice but it wont harvest and make another batch. so you could have a sensor bad, control malfunction, refrigeration issue, compressor, defrost system malfunction(you mentioned ice build up)

SOURCE: samsung frost free fridge freezer ices bottom of freezer

it means that the freezer heater is bad, it's located after you remove the racks from the freezer and removing the back panel, it's at the bottom or below the condenser.

SOURCE: Samsung refrigerator - frost on outside of freezer drawers

try checking the freezer door seal.
if slight gap anywhere around the door seal drawer fronts will frost up.
warm seal up with hair dryer and ease seal out with your hands..
problem often happens with door reversal.

SOURCE: Heavy Frost in the freezer

There are a few reasons for frost building up inside the freezer compartment. Refrigerators work like dehumidifiers collecting the moisture in the air inside and defrost is supposed to remove the moisture while defrost through a drain and then to the defrost condensate pan below the refrigerator. Ever notice how ice in freezer over time the ice cubes become smaller? Or food that is not sealed dries out. You either have one of three problems. Defrost drain blocked behind the rear wall in back of freezer, air leaking into freezer through the door seal and in your case the drawer seal and finally water possibly leaking into freezer from Ice Maker, Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

How do I stop frost/ice from building up in freezer (bottom freezer of French Door Stainless Steel bought in Dec 2011)

Check the door gasket carefully for cracks or other leaks. It is crucial to have a good barrier between the moist room air and the super-dry air inside the box that will quickly suck in the ambient humidity and form frost.

It would be difficult to change the sensor and the heater, and if the defrost cycle is running (and you feel some warmth around the bottom of the box when it is cycling) then the sensor and heater assembly are working and do not need to be replaced. The best practice is to remove any frost buildup at regular intervals and often to prevent a thick buildup that is difficult to remove.

Refrigeartor not chilling, freezer not freezing

If you have built up ice inside the freezer walls, and the defrost assembly isn't functioning, this could be the problem.

Defrost the unit! Take all the food out of the freezer side, remove shelves; remove inside back panel. If there is a lot of ice build up there, then your defrost assembly is not working or your refrigerator is not a frost free unit. Defrost either by leaving the freezer door open over night or you can speed the process up with a hair dryer. Once the ice build up is dealt with, you can plug the refrigerator back in and see if it will now freeze the freezer and chill the refrigerator. If it does, and you have a defrost assembly you need to order it and have it on hand when the ice builds up again.

Frost build up on back panel. 3 weeks ago used hair dryer to melt ice behind panel that was on the coils. Now we are getting frost on the coils and the top of the freezer door. Refrigerator section is now...

The defrost cycle on this fridge is not working. Ice is building up, restricting the air flow to the food section causing the area to warm up, the defrost components need to be tested to find the fault

Freezer is not defrosting

1. Remove all of the food from inside the freezer and place it into the ice chest. Use more than one ice chest, if necessary. Cover the food with ice from a 10 lb. bag of ice. Alternatively, place all of the food from your freezer into the refrigerator compartment, packed tightly together.
2. Place one or two 10 lb. bags of ice into one or two large bowls inside the refrigerator compartment to keep the food chilled. Keep the door to the refrigerator tightly closed and avoid opening it during the freezer defrosting process.
3. Unplug the unit and leave the freezer door open.
4. Let the freezer defrost overnight or for at least eight hours.
5. Use the towels to wipe up the melted ice.
6. Plug in a hair dryer and direct it to the interior of the freezer to melt any remaining ice from the walls and door. Be sure to direct it into the vents of the freezer, too.
7. Wipe up any water from ice melted with the hair dryer from inside and around the freezer.
8. Plug the freezer back into the outlet, and return food still solidly frozen to the freezer compartment from the ice chest or refrigerator. Use any thawed foods within a day or two or discard.

Frost is building up in bottom freezer. Amana ABB2224DEW

I have this problem as well, only nobody is leaving anything open. The defroster is defective of these things and the duct between the fridge and freezer gets frozen over and the cold air can't get in the fridge, so the freezer keeps working until it's blue in the face.

Model 363.582 62 894 Our freezer is frost free. There is heavy ice build-up. How do we get rid of it?

Option1: Unplug refrigerator and wait for it to melt. This will take a long time.

Option 2: Remove the rear and bottom panels from the freezer. Carefully chip away the ice. Use a hair dryer or hot water to melt the ice in the coils and drain.

If the ice builds up quickly again, test the defrost circuit and repair as necessary.

The refrigerator freezer is heavily frosting I cleaned it out and it is still frosting. What should I do?

Sir,

If the freezer fan is running (when the compressor is running), read on, otherwise replace the freezer fan. The defrost system has failed. There are three components, and I recommend replacing all three. These include a defrost timer (usually located somewhere in the food compartment, on the rear of the fridge, or behind the kickplate), and a defrost heater and defrost bi-metal (both located in the freezer section where the coils are. I recommend you unplug the unit overnight to allow the ice to melt before doing this repair.

You have a defrost problem which is common to all frost free refrigerators. To get you through until a diagnosis can be made, remove all the food from your freezer section and then the rear evaporator panel. With a hair dryer, remove all the frost you see behind the panel. Put it back together and your unit will work again for about 5 days until it start building up with frost again.

Thanks
Good luck

Refrigerator is barley cold, still makes ice, condensation inside of frostless freezer

Hi: The fact that it still makes ice tells me the freezer is a zero degrees. When you said condensation in the freezer did you mean frost? If your defrost heater fails it will cause the frost free freezer to build up frost. The frost will build up and block the vent that supplies the cold air to the fresh food. The defrost heater is behind the metal wall at the back of the freezer, at the very bottom. A glass tube with a metal coil in it. The coil can break and stop the defrosting. Replace that. Use a hair dryer to melt the frost from behind the panel. All of it top to bottom. You need to remove all the frost to free up the airways. I hope this helps, Jeff

I've got an electrolux frost free fridge freezer and it is not freezing. The fridge is cool and cold air is entering the freezer compartment but it is not cold enough to freeze the food. I've removed all...

remove the back panel inside the freezer and check for ice build up on the evaporator pipework. if ice build up, this prevents air flow and hence temp rises.
remove ice carefully with a hair dryer and it should work. if problem comes back, you have a problem with the defrost system and get back to me if you want
