My Polaroid 1911-TLXB LCD tv powers on, displays the Polaroid logo, then channel number and then the display goes dark. Audio is present and can change channels and volume. Powering off/on will repeat the above symptom. I aam familiar with electronics and would like to repair to component level but lack a service manual for this model tv. I suspect the inverter section of the PSU but am not sure how to go about testing for the failing component(s).
The problem is not with the inverter circuit. If that was the problem, you would not see the polaroid screen either. The problem is within the video path of the set. This is not a homeowner repair as the ICs involved here are surface mounted and require specialized equipment to replace. You should request an estimate from a local servicer ($50 or so) and report the results here. We can then guide you through the actual replacement of the correct board(s).
Please keep us posted,
Dan
Hi,
you just need to do a hard rest, to do a hard rest you need to unplug the unit with 2 to 3 hours. in order to drain the stored current into the memory IC
