Why can't I open downloads on my computer?

When I try it comes up with a box that says: 'YOU NEED AN UPDATED VERSION OF PAGES".

The document created may have been created with a different program than pages or an updated version.

OpenOffice.org is a great place to get a full freeware version of software sweet that should open whatever file your trying to open.

Hello Rochelle you try to open downloads that were created with Pages I suppose
If so download the updated version of Pages if possible. If that does not work for you try to open the download within the finder window with right mouse clicking on the download and choosing open with option.

I might likely be able to help you but need a few 'back & forth' questions answered to do so. Some questions 'seemingly simple' but I don't know your level of knowledge so forgive me in advance:

- What is your operating system? (go to the apple , upper far left to first drop down - "About this mac")

- What browser are you using?

- What are you downloading that made you write? Is it everything you download that you have this issue with?

Email encountered a problem when trying to load

Go to other pages on other websites.
See if the error is on any other page besides the Yahoo! page you are trying to view.

If it is, you will need to scan the computer for viruses.
You should already have some sort of antivirus software on your computer.

If you don't find anything, head to the Control Panel.
Clean out the cookies and cache folder first.

Click Start > Control Panel.
Find Internet Options and a box will open that asks to delete files.

Updated systems will allow you to delete everything, which you should do.
Check the error on a Yahoo! page and see if it's still there.

If that doesn't work, move to the next step.
Check to see what version of Internet Explorer you are using.

If there is an updated version, it's recommended that you install this before going any farther. Once it's finished installing, reboot the computer.

If the error on your Yahoo! page is still there, then you may need some new Java.
Find the most recent Javascript for your system.

Install the newer version, but don't forget to reboot the computer.
Go to Yahoo! and see if the error is still on the page.

You have two options now.
Either send a message to Yahoo! or try a different browser.

My vlc playar is not working?

Download and reinstall VLC Player.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com andin the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Downloadand install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It'sa very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formatsand media. It's totally FREE.

I have a scanned PDF document that I want to highlight and previously when the text wasn't recongnized it would ask to convert. At one point I checked the "do not ask again" box and now I am...

Basically Acrobat comes with a feature called as OCR (Optical Character Recognition) which helps acrobat in recognizing the text being used in a particular scanned document.
Just for the information, Acrobat 7 used to come with OCR accuracy of approximately 85% which has increased to 95% accuracy in the latest version of Acrobat (Acrobat X)
Now, in Acrobat 7, what you need to do is try running the OCR again on this document by following the steps mentioned below:
  • Open the document in Acrobat 7
  • Go to Document menu at the top
  • Click OCR text Recognition option under that menu
  • Then Recognize Text using OCR under that
  • This will open recognize text dialog box
  • Make sure All Pages option is selected in the new dialog box
  • Then click the edit button available in the same dialog box
  • This should open recognize text setting dialog box
  • Select Clearscan option in PDF Output Style drop down
  • Click Ok and then Ok again which should start the OCR on the open document
  • After OCR successfully completes try highlighting the text and see if you can do it
If you are still unable to do it, I would suggest you to download the trial version of Acrobat X from adobe.com which is a fully functional version which you can use for 30 days. After downloading this trial try opening the same document there and try running the OCR again and perform the highlighting of text again in Acrobat X itself.
If it still does not work please reply back with the results of the above mentioned steps and we can try performing some other workarounds to make the text recognizable.

Cannot connect to

in IE go to internet options....... go to advance tab down at the bottom click restore defaults restart teh PC or computer try going into youtube again, you mentioned youtube pages do not open in any browser you tried using .... have you tried updating flash on you computer try download k-lite codec pack http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm download the full version on the list of link after installing restart the system try going into youtube again.

Open Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight Adobe Flash Player.
Click to remove it.
Restart your computer.

I want audio drivers for this laptop

There are 4 ways you can download and install audio drivers :

1.From Device Manager

(1).Click Start, type Device Manager in the Start Search box,and then press ENTER.
(2).In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Sound, video, andgame controllers.
(3). Right-click the device, and click Scan for hardware changes.
You should see a message that a hardware device is beinginstalled. Additionally, the uninstalled audio device is now present in DeviceManager.
(4).Close the Device Manager dialog box, and then determinewhether you can hear sound.

2.From the motherboard or installation CD - If your computer came with a motherboard CD, the audiodrivers should be on the disk.

3. From manufacturer's website - If you don’t have theCD go to your computer manufactures web page to search for updated sound driversoftware. Read the instructions on the download pages carefully before installing.

4. Microsoft's Windows Updatefeature : If there are no updated sound drivers available, use Microsoft's Windows Updatefeature. Connect to the Internet and try the following items until WindowsUpdate opens:

(1).Click Start, and then click Windows Update (if it is listed).
(2).Click Start, click Settings, and then click Windows Update (if it islisted).
(3).Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update (if it islisted).
(4).Go to Microsoft's Web site and click Windows Update from the Downloads menu.

However one of the manuals indicate Roxio may provide updates for photosuite. There is also no notation that these are or are not Vista Compatible.
