My alcatel one touch 5020d freezes on boot and just displays the welcome screen. the problem started after it overheated one night when i slept on it..lol now it cant boot/ I tried a factory reset and wiped everything but the problem was not sorted out. what could be hv been damaged
Sounds like it has been damaged. The only other thing I can think of is remove the battery for a few hours and try again.

step 1. turn phone phone
step 2. hold the power button/ volume down button
step 3. use the volume down to select wipe/factory data reset
step 4. use powerbutton to confirm selection

While OFF; Simultaneously press and hold the Volume Down, Camera, and
the Power keys for 10 seconds.
When the Android icon is displayed touch the Menu sensor key .
Scroll with the Volume Down key to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the
camera button.
Scroll with Volume Down keyto: "Yes -- delete all user data" and press the
camera button.
When Data wipe is completed the option "Reboot system now" is
highlighted, press the camera keyto reboot the device.

It would be helpful if you gave what the manufacturer and phone model were in your description. However, if you have a regular keyboard, along with a touch screen you can still use the keyboard to do some basic functions. The best way to learn the keys you should use is by reviewing your user manual. If you cannot find the original manual that came with your phone, I suggest going to the manufacturer's website and downloading it to you computer. Most phones have shortcut keys and those are defined in the user manual. Before you start using the keys, make sure your phone is "fresh" by which I mean restarted and ready to go from the home screen.
If you have a warranty with your phone, you can always use that to get a new one. Most cell companies have an average $50 - $125 deductible for insurance and you will get a new phone (sometimes refurbished). You will have needed to purchase the warranty when you originally bought the phone.
On a side note: some companies will not warranty certain phones they sell, but there are 3rd party companies which will.

just turn it off it will work that happened to me haha..
if you need to make a call via wifi just turn it on and then you can make the call
