Warm refrigerator compartment

The refrigerator compartment on my Kenmore Model 106-52554100 is warm (60 degrees) and I can't feel any airflow from the discharge vent between the freezer and refrig compartment. Compressor is running and freezer temp seems to be fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks

There is a fan that blows the cold air down from the freezer to the fridge compartment. It is usually called a freezer fan. Most of them are behind the plastic lining in the freezer. I just noticed that your fridge is a side by side. I have never wored on a side by side but I imagine there is fan in them as well.

Samsung rb2055sl running warm 55 degrees in refrigerator and 70 degrees in freezer fan is working no ice, way to warm

Is there a clicking noise? Feel the compressor to see if too hot to keep your hand on top. Look ate the frost pattern in rear of the freezer compartment and tell me the results. Several things could be causing the compressor to get hot and not run. Freon leak is one thing that could happen and defective start relay, overload and run capacitor is another. You could also have a defective cooling fan under fridge or inside the freezer compartment

A kenmore side by side model 106 5661 2500 has warm refer and cold freezer

If the freezer temps are normal and the refrigerator is warmer than normal, the the air flow from freezer to refrigerator is being hampered either by ice on the evaporator or the freezer is stuff in such a way that normal airflow between freezer and fridge is hampered. If the auto defrost is not working properly you will have warmer freezer temps and a relatively warm refridge. Check the defrost timer and defrost heater element.

Have a kenmore refrigerator freezer works but not refrigerator

You mean "How to Fix a Kenmore Refrigerator That Is Not Cold But the Freezer Is Good?"

Well this what i say,
Kenmore combination refrigerator and freezers combine the short- and long-term food storage options in a single unit. There are some occasions when the refrigerator compartment might appear to be malfunctioning while the freezer box stays cool. Ruling out these occasions ensures you have done everything you can to correct the problem before calling for a technician if necessary.

1.Verify that the temperature controls for the refrigerator compartment are properly configured. Tap the "^" or "v" buttons beside the refrigerator's LCD temperature display until "38," the ideal temperature, appears. The compartment could have been set too warm. Allow 24 hours for the the appliance to reach 38 degrees Fahrenheit.

2 Check that the refrigerator compartment door closes completely, objects inside the appliance could be holding the door ajar. When cool air is allowed to escape, the internal temperature rises. Cracked, holed or corroded door seals may also raise the refrigerator temperature.

3 Change how you use the refrigerator compartment; storing hot or warm food strains the appliance and causes a rise in internal temperatures. Do not prop open the door or leave it ajar for more than a few seconds at a time for the reasons outlined in Step 2.

4 Contact Kenmore if the refrigerator compartment remains too warm for your food. There may be a problem with the motor or any one of the other parts that regulate the temperature

Compressor is running but temp. is not below 29 degrees freezer and 59 degrees refrigerator. condenser coil is a little dirty not bad. suction line feels cool discharge line is hot.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
Sounds like you checked the big things... reach in the back of the freezer compartment and press against the evaporator access cover. Your feeling for a block of ice over the evaporator coils. If your sure that the evaporator coils are not blocked then test the door switch... make sure the light goes OFF and the evaporator fan goes ON when the door / light switch plunger is depressed. If you have in door water and ice you can also test the switch for operation by holding the door / light switch plunger depressed and filling a glass with water. If that does not work either with the plunger depressed then the door switch is bad. I did not see you comment about the condenser fan.... If it is not running or working properly the chassis will be VERY warm to HOT on the face of the chassis where the door gaskets mate to the chassis. Dirty condenser coils will also cause the very warm to HOT front of chassis condition.
Still can't find anything wrong:
- Do a manual defrost: Unit unplugged with an external fan directed into the freezer compartment with the contents removed for 2 hours. (Yes makes a mess)
- Return the unit to normal service after your manual defrost session
- Check initial temps making sure that they return to normal in 8 hours. .
- After 3 days watch temps to see if they are again rising. If they are rising you most likely have an automatic defrost problem that can be caused by the defrost heating element, defrost control or possibly the bi-metal defrost thermostat that is open above 60 Deg F and closed below 60 F.

These are the basics... without a model number my response was generic. With a model number depending on your response there might be other things to check.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Fridge compartments too warm

There are several possibilities on your model. Compressor start components and Adaptive defrost Control. I would like you to pull away from wall and unplug , rempove the cover over compressor and feel the compressor to tell me if warm, hot or too hot to keep your hand there, Waiting for your response, Sea Breeze

Westinghouse fridge: no cool air circulating inside

Art, I need to get a little more information from you. Does the condenser fan under the refrigerator seem to work and blowing warm air from below and or behind the refrigerator? The motor feeling warm is OK. Only when too hot to touch on top. Needs to cycle also. When you opened the freezer did you hear the fan blowing? Thanks, JT

Kenmore refrigerator 5260 not cold

  • the defrost timer on your machine is actually integrated within a control board/air diffuser. hopefully that is not the problem (expensive).
  • i would start by testing the heater and bimetal thermostat in the freezer. (note: the bimetal thermostat will only have continuity when below 40 degrees.)
  • the heat you feel between the doors is normal (if it is not too hot).
  • some of the heat that is released by the machine is intentionally released between the doors to prevent condensation.
  •  if it seems warmer than usual then you might need to clean the coils under the machine and make sure the airflow under the machine is not obstructed at all.
  • if the coils are dirty then they will not be able to release the heat properly and the heat will be released in other areas like between the doors.

Fridge too warm

first, verify that the fan is running in the freezer compartment. second check that there is no airflow blockage between freezer compartment and refrigerator compartment. if that does'nt solve the issue verify the defrost system is working.
