Project 2010 - Unable to open file error

I created a new project using project 2010, yesterday I added loads of content. Today I have tried to open the project file and keep getting the error unable to open file. During yesterday I saved a number of different copies, none of which can opened, get the same message. The files are password protected but the password entered is correct. I have lost a days worth of analysis, I can't seem to find any way of opening the file. This is getting really urgent, thanks in advance for any help given. Looks like Microsoft have played a blinder here with the release of project 2010...

This is vital point which can be consider as workaround:
v Go to the document library in which project files resides
v Hover your mouse to any project file and select 'edit in Microsoft Office Project'
v It will give you a pop up by selecting the 'SharePoint drafts' option
v Click ok / you can do a check out also by selecting the 'SharePoint draft' option
v Now the document is in check out condition so go to the SharePoint drafts location on your machine (Location: \My Documents\SharePoint drafts)
v Open the document by means of draft location, do the changes and save it.
v Go back to the SharePoint site and check in the document.
v Changes will be successfully saved without any problems

How can I use saved printmaster projects listed as SIG file on Printmaster 2019?

It may be possible. First, create a new project on Printmaster 2019 and save it. There's no need to actually print it, just save it. Go to the folder where you saved the new project and look at the file type. Is it a SIG file? If so, you may import (or copy and paste) your older saved projects into the same folder as the new saved project. Then the older projects can be opened in Printmaster 2019.
If the new project file type is not SIG then note what type it is. Next, make a copy of the older saved projects folder. Open the copied folder. Left-click to highlight a project, then right-click on it and select "Rename". Keep the same project name, but change the file type from SIG to the new file type used in Printmaster 2019. Next, try opening that renamed project with Printmaster 2019. If the old renamed project is compatible with Printmaster 2019 it will open, ready to use. If it does not open ready to use then your only hope is to contact Printmaster tech support (probably by email) and ask if there's a fix to make older projects compatible.

When attempting to burn project in MY DVD8 an error appears 800402007 while encoding. I am therefor unable to burn disc

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:
  1. Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
  2. When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.

If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:

  1. After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
  2. You have two data burning options:
    • Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
    • Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.

Tip: Either of the above options are a great way to not only back up your projects, but make multiple copies to reduce encoding time!

Microsoft Project cannot open the file

1.Open the .mpp file in Microsoft Project 4.x.
2.On the File menu, click Save As.
3.In the File name box, type the file name that you want to save.
4.In the Save as type list, click MPX(4.0).
5.Click Save.
Files in MPX 4.0 format can be opened directly in either Microsoft Project 98 or in Microsoft Project 2000.
If you are still experiencing the issue you can try Project Fix Toolbox https://www.fixtoolbox.com/projectfix.html

Power2go 6 "unable to locate one or more files"

CL Qualset is right. The best way is to create a new project instead of updating an old one. Otherwise, you will have to search through all the folders to find the missing files listed in red and remove them from your project.

Is there an easy and free way to convert a MS project 2010 project file to project 2007 without using MS project 2010?

Can I open my Project 2007 files in Project Professional 2010?

Answers:- Adapted from http://www.microsoft.com/project/en/us/project-desktop-faqs.aspx
Project plans from earlier versions of Project can be used in the Project Professional 2010, providing users the benefits of new features and capabilities. To avoid compatibility issues when sharing your Project Professional 2010 files with Project 2007 (or Project 2003) users, save your project as a Project 2007 (or Project 2003) file format.

Best options is to ask the person/sender to save the file as "Project 2007" format.

Hope it helps.
