Just changed rear projection lamp. tried turning on and off. unplugging.
These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If its a DLP tv chances are the bulb went out, double check with the manufacturer before getting as they are not cheap, around the $250 range.

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea

This would be an error code indicating a problem. You didn't mention if anything else was going on with the TV as in no picture, or no sound. If the TV is operating just fine, there could be a bug in the software causing this. If there is a problem, the best thing would be to contact Sony and relay that error message and go from there.
