Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. We were watching tv last night and everything was fine. All of a sudden the sound disappeared. Everything else is still working fine except the sound. Any ideas?

Hello,

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. To get the sound repair, it can be from $150 and up, so if you can put up with using the good set of Powered PC speakers which actually give better sound than the tiny speakers inside the TV, I would keep using it that way, you may want to find out if the on screen sound setup will allow you to set the audio line out to be VARIABLE which means the sound output feeding the PC speakers can be varied using the TV remote control, then all you have to do is to set the PC volume to about half way up and set the TV volume to what ever you want.

Hope this will help out in solving the problem...

Suddenly my yamaha Rx-v2300 only works to provide sound at nearly full volume to get any sound at all. This then comes with a background buzz. This only occurs while getting cable TV signal, using other...

I'm assuming you have a cable converter box (set-top box) that you have hooked to your receiver. Check the box volume using the cable company's remote control. These boxes frequently have variable audio output, and if you turn the volume down on the box you'll have the symptom you're describing. When you press the volume up or down buttons on the remote, you'll usually see a volume bar on the TV screen. As you raise the volume, there may be a point marked by an arrow, which is where you should set the volume. On some boxes, when you get to a certain level the words "best stereo" appear, and that's where to set it. If your box doesn't have some indication like this just leave the volume set 3/4 or full up. Then the volume on the receiver should function properly with the cable TV input.

Hum in sound volume

It could be a few things. The first thing you want to look at is make sure that the microphone is muted in the mixer controls of your audio cards. These settings are located in the control panel. If you need the mic, look under the advanced settings under it and disable the 20 db option for it.

If that doesn't work I have a few other ideas.

Hum in the audio - 32'' Proscan 1080i

does the hum occur when playing a dvd or only when watching tv ? if the hum occurs only when watching tv, i would like you to disconnect the cable line from either the wall or the back of the cable box and see if this hum disappears. if the hum disappears call your cable company. you have what is called a " 60 cycle ground loop ". hope this helps.

Have picture, no sound

I've had this trouble too. Not sure how to fix it, but I've found a work-around:

Remove DVD.
Insert Audio CD.
Wait for audio to play.
Remove audio CD.
Reinsert DVD.
Sound should work again.

If you power off the unit, you may have to try this procedure again.

My RCA 32" TV

If volume shows erratically behaviour do the following:

  • Take batteries out from remote and check if it is a remote problem.
  • Try pressing and playing volume buttond on TV, see if it can be a button.
  • If it is a button remove front panel and clean button contacts with circuit cleaning solution.
  • If all the above did not work, it is either a faultycontrol panel or a faulty audio pcb on your tv. Them both must betested (control panel it is an easy test if you know how to use amultimeter)

If you need replacement parts enter model here

If you need to call a technician you can ring the number listed on your owner manual
