I would ensure that you have the current firmware installed on the printer and make sure that you are sending the job via network with a correct driver. If you manually set the IP address on your computer and the printer you should be able to connect direct using a crossover cable, I do that in the shop all the time.

SOURCE: Cannot print with wirelessly networked printer

hi,

if printing from 2 other computer works fine, will i think its not an issue of IP address which changes somehow. but anyways, try to check if you still have other printer drivers under "PRINTERS" (see control panel). it should say HP Photosmart c6100 series. If you also have there a printer icon that says HP Photosmart c6100 series Copy1, try using it (right click on that icon and choose Set as Default Printer). If you only have HP Photosmart c6100 series under PRINTERS, try to right click, then choose properties. When Properties box is open, click on PORTS tab. then click on configure ports below. Try to type in the IP address of the printer under "Printer Name or Host name or IP address". make sure that you already printed network configuration page to get the exact ip address of the printer, Dont know how to print? do this.

PRINTING NETWORK CONFIGURATION PAGE
1. press setup, then scroll down and look for Network.
2. press okay on network, it will give you the first option "VIew network settings".
3. press okay on it, and it will give you the first option "Print network configuration page."
4. choose that and press okay. it will print the network config page. from this document, you will be able to see the IP address of the printer.

Please let me know if the issue is still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you another possible solution.

Thank you so much.

SOURCE: Can I connect the printer directly to my laptop using ethernet cable

Hi! If the computer is connected to an HP All-in-One on a network, you can access the Embedded Web Server that resides in the HP All-in-One. The Embedded Web Server is a web-based user interface that provides some options not available on the HP All-in-One control panel, including advanced network security options. The Embedded Web Server also enables you to monitor status and order printer supplies. For information on how to use the features available in the Embedded Web Server, see the onscreen help within the Embedded Web Server. To access Embedded Web Server help, open the Embedded Web Server, then click the Help link under Other Links on the Embedded Web Server Home tab. NOTE: Only use the Embedded Web Server to change network settings if you cannot access the HP All-in-One control panel, or you need to change an advanced option not available on the control panel. Access the Embedded Web Server Use the following instructions to access the Embedded Web Server. You can only access the Embedded Web Server on a computer that is connected to an HP All-in-One on a network.

  1. Press Setup on the HP All-in-One.
  2. Press c00706174.gif until Network is highlighted, then press OK . The Network Menu displays.
  3. Select View Network Settings menu, then press OK .
  4. Select Print Network Configuration Page , then press OK . A configuration page prints, including the IP address. You will use the IP address in the next step.
  5. In the Address box in the Web browser on the computer, type the IP address of the HP All-in-One, as shown on the network configuration page. For example, http://192.168.1.101 . The Embedded Web Server Home page displays, showing information for the HP All-in-One. NOTE: If you are using a proxy server in your browser, you might need to disable it to access the Embedded Web Server.
  6. If you need to change the language displayed in the Embedded Web Server, do the following:
    1. Click the Settings tab.
    2. Click Select Language in the Settings navigation menu.
    3. In the Select Language list, click the appropriate language.
    4. Click Apply .
  7. Click the Home tab to access device and network information, or click the Networking tab to access more network information or to modify network information.
  8. Make any configuration changes.
  9. Close the Embedded Web Server.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: Cannot print on shared printer

I had the same problem with HP 1018 printer, when I had two computers connected to a domain and had Windows XP SP3 on them and when I shared the printer on one of them - I could only print from the network if the user belonged to the Local Administrators group on the host/server computer. Once the network user is removed from Administrators - the print jobs are stuck in print queue. I used the "HP LaserJet Host Based Print Driver Package" that is on HP web site for HP laserjet 1018 printer.
Then I tried to use a different driver for that printer and was successful with driver for HP LaserJet 1020. After forcing that printer to use the 1020 drivers, the regular users were able to print to that printer.

Hello,

The scanner function is not available when you are connected wireless, you must be connected via USB to your PC for the scanner to function correctly.

Office jet pro 8710. will not print says the paper size detected 0 by the printer does not match the paper size selected (8.5x11in) for the print job

The Officejet 8710 printer can face paper mismatch issues if the paper settings are not set properly in the Print Preview box.
Try setting the Paper Type option to Plain in the settings window that appears before performing the print.
Change the settings to 8.5 x 11 in both the copier and the printer setting.
There can also be an issue with the paper tray.
Set the paper width guides correctly.
Try printing a Configuration report to determine which paper size the printer is configured to.

Any bits of paper stuck inside the printer roller might also cause paper feeding errors.
Open the cartridge access door of your HP Officejet Pro printer.
Wait for the ink cartridges to a position on the left.
Look for any pieces of paper inside the cartridge area.
If any bits are found, remove them. That should solve your problem.

FIND MANUAL for 8710 hp printer

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is one of the most user-friendly printers. But for them to work, you need one important pice of software to work flawlessly. HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 driver. You can look up the HP site for the driver by giving two pieces of information. The first one to provide the site with is the printer model number, which we already have and know. For the second part, you must specify the OS your computer is functioning on. Once you provide the two, you'll have the driver to download and you can install it. Then you can be easily setup HP Officejet Pro 8710 Printer.

HP Customer Support page and ensure the printer is running the latest available firmware. Print a Configuration Report from the control panel of the printer to check the installed firmware version.
  • If the printer supports expandable memory, you can install additional memory in the form of a DIMM. Check the printer's User Guide to see if it supports additional memory.
  • Break complex print jobs into smaller jobs that contain fewer pages.
  • If the printer is an MFP, delete stored faxes to increase available memory. Go to this document for instructions: HP LaserJet Pro MFP - Delete faxes from memory (ID: emr_na-c03264743)
  • Power cycle the printer to delete stored fonts or macros. It is possible to download fonts or macros in a way that power cycling the printer will not delete them; see Appendix A - Memory Allocation.
  • Changing some software and/or print driver settings might result in a less complex print job.
  • Use a different print driver. For example, a PostScript print driver will typically result in a more complex print file. If possible, try sending the file with a PCL6 or UPD printer driver.
  • Adobe PDF files can sometimes be very complex. Go to this document if printing PDF files is slow or resulting in memory out messages: HP LaserJet - Print job is slow or hangs in the print queue when printing Adobe PDF files (ID: emr_na-c04071740)
  • If the printer is connected via a network, try sending the file connected by USB cable only. This will eliminate possible network issues that are taking printer memory.
  • Appendix A

Use the following guidelines if you use the page description language (PDL) ability to mark resources as permanent. For technical details, see an appropriate PDL reference for PCL or PS.
    • Mark resources as permanent only when it is absolutely necessary that they remain in memory while the product is turned on.
    • Send permanent resources to the product only at the beginning of a print job and not while the product is printing.
NOTE: Overusing permanent resources or downloading them while the product is printing might affect product performance or the ability to print complex pages.

Got my HP laser jet P1005 plugged into 1 PC prints fine. But 2nd PC is networked to it and it takes ages to print! How can I speed up send PC print job? Both PCs Only ever print single pages.

Well, that really depends upon how you are "networked". Obviously, the primary PC is USB 2.0 connected direct to the printer. When you send a print job, the PC merely starts the print job and sends it to the printer on the fly. The other PC must first spool the entire job, packet it up, send it to the network, then network sends it to the first PC, where it must unpacket it, and send it to the printer. This is definitely going to be slower than a direct connection. And if your network connections are wireless rather than wired, even longer.

    49 server error

49.xx.xy error- General firmware error ( like a blue screen in windows)
a corrupt print file is usually the cause and can be cleared by disconnecting the printer from the network, then cycle the power , allow the machine to come to ready and ask the pritner for a configuration page( just a test to see if the printer is able to respond- if not then replace formatter/firmware chip) when this has finished printing goto the workstation that sent the last files to the printer and clear ALL print queues form the PC then and only after clearing the print queues can you re-connect the network - failing to clear the print queue will cause the printer to re-try printing the corrupt document which will result in 49.xx.xy error being displayed again.
