Samsung VRT with a DS or D5 code? Door closes but won't lock
Had load of laundry in machine and it stopped, beeped and said door was open, but actually, the door was locked and would not open. We went through the test mode, and were able while testing, to get it to click open. So, now, we can open and close the door, but it won't lock, and is still showing the code D5 or Ds? Help
Re: Samsung VRT with a DS or D5 code? Door closes but...
Bad door lock switch mechinism or the control board is bad at the emergency door lock circuit? where the wires from the door swtich attache, check ur schematic and will need a multimeter
The machine has to reset to bringg tthe lock to release, check the link to the lock settings to make the program complete the cycle and release the lock. Do not force it as you end up damaging.
This means your door interlock has broken & needs to be replaced. There made of plastic this is a very common problem with all brands of front load washer's.

The D5 error is actually DS. The code means the washer thinks the door is open or unlocked during the cycle. the problem is related to faulty door locking assembly. There is a switch in back of door, if this fails it wont work. God-Bless!
When washing heavily soiled loads, do not overload your washer in order to assure good cleaning results.

DO NOT attempt to open the door until the door lock light is off. To add a forgotten item, see

When your washer is restarted after a pause, expect a delay of up to 15 seconds before the cycle
continues.
•
Pressing Power button cancels the cycle and stops your washer.
•
The pre wash, wash, rinse and spin indicator lights will illuminate during those portions of the cycle
Most probably your door lock is damaged. You are not supposed to force it open, you have to wait for at least 2 minutes (or till the lock sign is off) after the wash is over to open the door, never force it. You can just google your model number and search for parts to obtain it. It is quite possible you can change it yourself. See that the line is disconnected from the mains.
I am wondering if your error code is DS and not D5, which would indicate problems with the door lock assembly communicating with the control board. Essentially, the control board does not believe the door is closed and/or locked, so it shuts down the machine.
Error code D5 OR DS is the same. Its mostly DS which looks like D5.
The D5 error is actually DS. The code means the washer thinks the
door is open or unlocked during the cycle. The door has to be checked. Is
it getting properly close/open.If its getting close/open then the
problem is related to faulty door locking assembly. But if its not
getting proper close then there is any blockage causing the door to
close or the door lock latch is faulty causing this problem.

It sound like a loose or a broken lid switch issue.
The lid switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch.
Good luck!
