8.1 how do I get to the old user setup screen.

Page 12 of the manual suggests the following to set a screen saver. Whether you can set none, I couldn't tell:

Begin wizard From Home Screen, Press: MENU > SETTINGS > USER SETUP WIZARD
Select User Setup Wizard to begin.
Press NEXT and set your preferred display brightness, backlight, screen saver and color theme settings.

CHANGE USER PASSWORD
When the MFP Local Authentication function is enabled, users can change their authentication password that has been entered in the authentication screen from this menu.

Change the password.

1) Press [OLD PASSWORD] to enter the current password. 2) Press [NEW PASSWORD] to enter the new password.
3) Press [RETYPE NEW PASSWORD] to enter the new password again. 4) Press [OK] to save the new password.
You will be returned to the USER menu screen.
? When you press [OLD PASSWORD], [NEW PASSWORD], or [RETYPE NEW PASSWORD], the on-screen keyboard is displayed.

? The input password appears as asterisks (*) in the [OLD PASSWORD], [NEW PASSWORD], and [RETYPE NEW PASSWORD] boxes.

Logon screen will only show if you have multiple users or a password setup. Setup in Control Panel > Users. Enable the Guest account.

No user screen will appear if there is no password. Setup a password.

press ctrl + alt + del and see if a menu screen appears if it does select task manager then click file and click new task and type explorer and press enter. See if that allows you to start windows. If it doesnt restart the computer and keep pressing f8 till you get a menu up askingif you want to start normally etc choose safe mode, select it with the up and down arrow keys and press enter. when windows loads up choose administrator and log in you will then have to setup a new user account. click start > control panel > user accounts. Create a new user account (dont use the same name as you used before if your user account name was kyle call the new one kyle1. then restart the laptop again and try to log into the new user account. Report back if you can and i will explain how to recover your old account

Step 1:
Log in to your web based setup page. For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Click Setup tab followed by Password tab.

If your screen does not look like the one above, you can try changing the password from the Administration tab's Management screen.

Step 3:
NOTE: The User Name is "admin". Cannot be changed.

At the Old Password text box, enter the router's old password. Default is "admin".

Step 4:
Enter a New Password for the Router. Your password must have 20 or fewer characters and cannot contain any spaces.

Step 5:
At the Confirm New Password text box, re-enter the new password to confirm it.

Step 6:
Click Save Settings to save the changes, or click Cancel Changes to get back to the default settings.

You don't say anything about the brand, but most have a menu or setup button on the remote (and TV) which give an on-screen display of functions available. You should see one for picture adjustments. Perhaps the projection bulb is getting old and dim. This is another possibility.

The address is 192.168.1.1. The default for Linksys is to leave the user name blank and type in "admin" for the password. Don't type the quote marks. That will put you in the setup screen. The screen looks a little different from most tabbed screens. About the 3rd row down starting with "Setup" are the tabs. The next line is the sub-tabs; the subtab row changes as you select different tabs.

Your best solution is to get rid of that crappy TV! Having an old tube Tv really makes the rooms look bad.
