I have two thirds battery left and my brand new camera is telling me 'Force Flash Off' and not allowing the flash to work. I cannot find in the manual anything to change this in order to fix it.

What flash? on what camera?
It could help us, if you tell us what brand and model camera and flash you are using. And if you tell us what settings on your camera you already tried. And if the batteries are new and or charged.

I had a similar problem with my panasonic and it was because I had the camera set up to take multiple shots. If you put it on single shot it will allow you to use the flash at any time. Hope this helps.

try leaving the camera on to drain the battery down, then try charging it again.. or could be a bad battery

Hello, I have the same problem. that display is finctional also buttons, insted of manual force flash button.Is there on net service manual?

On these cameras, if you're using ANY of the auto modes (P, A, S on the dial), the lense must be set to the lowest aperture setting (the highest number). Check to make sure this is the case. If it isn't, that's most likely your issue.

If you're using a non-CPU lense, this camera can only be used on M(anual) mode on your dial. If you haven't changed lenses this isn't likely an issue. If however you're using a new (to you) lense, this is a possibility.

According to the manual, the only other possibility is that your attached flash isn't set to the proper setting when using "P" mode. In this mode, the attached flash MUST be a Nikon dedicated flash unit set to TTL mode, otherwise fEE flashes with a little lightning bolt symbol. If you're not using a flash specifically designed for this model, remove it and try again. If you are, cycle the mode button on the flash until it reads "TTL" on the flash's LCD panel.

The manual makes no mention of fEE (error) and the battery indicator blinking, so these are the only things I can suggest with the information given.

The flashing Orange light means the charge is flashing.
The flashing Green light means the focus and exposure are not correct.

Have you recently replaced the batteries? Or are you using rechargeable batteries? Lack of enough "Juice" could allow for the flash to not charge up (Orange) therefore not allowing the camera to get the correct exposure (Green). I would try new fresh batteries or a new battery pack. If that doesn't fix the issue it must be a bad circuitry in the body that is shorting not letting the flash charge.

Hi there if your right in your way then the problem occur on your camera flash. Its new so, still under warranty. So i suggest you visit the service center & ask for replacement. Thanks.

The S700 does NOT have a manual release for the flash to pop up, but it DOES have a spring already. DO NOT try to force it! Set the flash to "FORCE", leave your lens cap on and waste a shot to allow the flash hood to pop up. Reset your flash to the desired setting and now the flash is already open and ready for use without the delay and the startling effect it has when your concentrating on framing your shot. As for the other problem of no flash in any setting: Check your menus to see if you have the flash totally disabled, check your batteries, does the "charge indicating light" come on at all between shots? In RARE cases, the actual bulb that flashes may be burned out, or a component in the flash circuit itself,such as the capacitor, may have gone bad. Did the flash ever work? If under warranty, return for repair or replacement. There are NO user serviceable parts in these tiny cameras

You should have the dealer check the camera. The flash unit may be defective.

By default when a camera is new out of the box, it should work as full automatic with the flash.
