Same thing happened to me. It was working fine, then my wife and I rearranged our furniture. When I plugged it back in, black and white. My component cables are aftermarket, and when I looked at them closely I found a little switch for tv or HDTV. I switched it back to HDTV and all was fine. Hope this helps.
I had the same problem.
are you using anytime of connectors to make the cord longer?
Check the cords and the plugs on the back of your tv
make sure they are not fried or cut in any way.
then go to the back of the wii console and make sure all the pins are in the back of there.

Definitely a TV issue for me. Changed Wii to another input on TV and resolved situation. Need now to check how to get my Panasonic TV to recognise colour on AV2 & 3 because I prefer to keep DVD input as AV1!

It's most likely because the US Wii is NTSC and your European TV is PAL.

you need to check your settings on your tv and make sure your wires are all the way in on the tv. there is also the possibility that you have a bad wire from your wii to the tv

Usually this is either a cable or a mode issue. First make sure that you have the correct cable connections. (Composite video cable to a component video jack is one possible cause of the problem.) Component video cables are not included with the set but will give better results. However, composite video in from the wii's composite video out should give good results.
If you are using HDMI or component video cables, then go into the Wii video menus to select the correct mode for your tv. Check your TV manual and the Wii setup guide for details on the mode (resolution, etc) you should be using.
If the problem persists, try new video cables and make sure that they are fully seated on both sides. Try switching inputs if you have several available.
I hope this helps.
