If you have an email account other than gmail, you can request Google to reset password and have it sent to your mail inbox.

use your laptop tablet etc if your google account is on / hover over your google logo picture click on it / look for add account click on it / google account will appear if not the one you want / left click scroll back and previous google accounts will appear / still not working click on forgot email

I had the same problem with my galaxy j7, I forgot the login password to get in to my phone. I tried a hard factory reset to manufacture settings. I had contacts and photos backed up with google account, so it was okay to erase and reset the phone. The login password was gone and the phone started like i had just bought it, but then I ran into another problem. My google user account was still logged in when I reset the phone. Androids and googles Factory Reset Protection was activated and a message said "an unauthorized attempt to factory reset was detected, please login with the original user email and password". I forgot the screensaver password and google account password I was still locked out of my phone. Two options I had then was the local phone repair store (boost mobile was going to charge 40$ to unlock my phone) recommended to try this first. The other option was to reset google account password and login to email from another computer for password verification and wait googles 72 hour FRP lockout to use new password to login. You have to call your phone provider and they will unlock it when you verfy that it is yours.

The factory reset removed the Google account data from your phone. When first setting up a phone, you pair the phone with a google account. On the off chance that was not the first thing you did after the factory reset, you may have to hard reset it again and then go through setup immediately to pair a Google account with the phone. If you have not paired the Google account with the phone during setup, you will not have Google access. If the setup offers a restore from backup (and you did have backup enabled previously), you can give that a go. It would restore settings.

But before you do that, you could try the following. I don't think they will work for you but the powers that be might smile upon you.

Try entering your user account name and when prompted for a password, enter the word "null". Afterward, set up a new pattern.

Alternatively, The G2/Hero's 'Forgot Pattern?' screen asks you to enter the Gmail address you signed in with and its password.

Here is another trick rather hard to describe as I can't write it in this forum. You know the letter x. Try writing it 3 times before the @ sign in the following two items below.

If you enter @gmail.com and then the password, then it will say it's not right. You need to enter @googlemail.com and then it will accept it the password, purportedly.

Ohhhh....you use Android phone right? You active pattern lock and forgot it? Try shutdown your phone by take the battery out and insert it again. You will be asked to enter the pattern lock, choose "I forgot..." and you can sigin to your google account agian!
