Runs but doesn't turn. Worm gear is not broken.

The problem will be with the worm gear, if the gear is not stripped then check that the locating pin for the worm gear is not broken or missing. Occasionally the plastic gear can detach from the aluminium boss between plastic and shaft. The worm gear is the 99.9% place where drive can slip. Afterthought, I suppose the planetary pin is not missing or broken??

Don't worry about the Worm Gear for now. You have to make sure that the Motor
is fully functional by itself: Remove the Transmission Housing Cover (4 screws) and
the two screws holding the Motor down. Lift the Motor off the Worm Gear and set it
on the side (be careful of AC voltages from the Motor and Control Assembly).
Select Stir setting and observe the motor shaft. Is the Motor running? If it is,
Select other speeds to see how the motor performs.
With the motor now fully functional, you can now check the Worm Gear Follower
for worn out/broken teeth. Remember the motor drives the Worm Gear, it then in
turn drives the Worm Gear Follower (you may have to remove the grease to see it)
The Bevel Gear sits right on top of the Follower and drives the Attachment Gear.

It sounds like the Worm Gear is going out. The faster the motor runs,
the more damages the Center Gear is grinding away the teeth of the
Worm Gear. Things start to slow down, and eventually they will come
to a halt. It's time to replace the Worm Gear. Also make sure to use
new fresh Kitchenaid Food Grade Grease with the new replacement.

Have you try to run the motor without engaing of worm gears? The worm gear 15T assembly need to remove in order for motor to run freely. check worm gear attach to motor shaft for any damaging.

The teeth on the worm gear are designed to fail first to prevent more serious damage. To replace the part you will need to open the head on your mixer. The gears are at the front of the mixer packed in grease. It should be obvious that the worm gear has broken once the head is open. If it is not the worm gear, with the head open it should be easy to spot the problem. The gears are available as spare parts from several places on the internet. search for "kitchenaid worm gear"

It sounds like you may have a broken worm gear inside your mixer which is a common problem.It is a wearable part which transfers the power from the motor to the main drive. It may be chipped or damaged right now, and running it will cause more damage. Part number for the worm gear is W10112253. This does however require some know how to replace. Hope this helps

no there are no adjustments . you must have bent the case just a little , i dont see any good news for you , sorry . i have worked on hobart mixers for years and you should get 5-10 years out of that gear
