Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

We just bought a new Dyson animal. Most of our home is hardwood, but the carpeted areas are impossible to push. Suggestions?

You need a vacuum with an adjustable height powerhead, and also suction control. Dyson has neither

When I vacuum a relatively new carpet I cannot push the vacuum because the suction is so strong. It works fine on my other carpets. Is there any way to adjust the suction?

You probably need to adjust the height. I don't know the make or model number of your vacuum to know if your model is adjustable.

Has too much suction on hard flooring and short pile carpet making it impossible to use

Hi Helen, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC41 is hard to push, it's possible there may be damage to one of the soleplate rollers on the underside of your machine's cleaner head. This could cause it to seal more closely with certain floor types than intended, in turn making the machine harder to push.

With the vacuum switched off and unplugged, check the underside of the cleaner head for any jammed or damaged rollers, including the large central roller in the black section in the middle of the rotating brush bar. In normal use, all of the rollers should be able to rotate freely.

If you do find any damage, just give our experts a call so we can provide further assistance. If a replacement part is needed we can confirm whether this is covered under your Dyson guarantee. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

What can i do to get my dyson to work on thick carpet not happy

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC41 is engineered and tested to work across a wide range of hard and carpeted floor types. The soleplate adjusts automatically for optimum performance, and the brush bar can be switched off to protected hard floors, delicate rugs or long pile carpet.

We're keen to take some additional details about your DC41 and the particular carpeting you're having difficulty with - we may have some suggestions that will help. We'll also check your particular DC41 is working as well as it should be.

When you have your DC41 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Self adjusting head plate not adjusting to hard floor

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty pushing your DC41 on hard flooring. However I'm confident I can help you resolve this - if you can email me directly at [email protected], I'll be in touch as soon as possible to take some further details. If you have the facility to attach a clear photo of the underside of your vacuum's cleaner head to your email, that would also be very useful to me.

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

The hose suction on my Dyson Animal (DC41) is fine, but will not disengage when you put the hose back and want to use the floor sweeper.

Hi Stacy, it's Jack at Dyson.

This issue you've described with your DC41 sounds unusual, as the changeover valve will divert suction to the cleaner head automatically when you recline the machine into the vacuuming position. If it's not doing this, it's possible you have a blockage somewhere in the cleaner head, internal hose or changeover valve.

To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc41/dc41-irspu/diagnosis-root-menu/performance-flo-area-check-dc41/flo-brushbarvid-dc41/redirect-to-performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose/performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose

Plush carpet setting on vaccuum?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC41 Animal's cleaner head is designed to self-adjust to different floor types - so you don't need to bend down to adjust a dial. You can see how this feature works in the video below. In addition to this, next to the red on/off switch you'll see a silver brush control switch, which allows you to turn off the brush bar for hard floors and delicate carpeting.

Carpet manufacturers sometimes recommend vacuuming certain types of carpeting with the brush bar turned off - we'd suggest checking directly with the manufacturer of your carpets to ensure you're cleaning them correctly.

If you'd like any further advice on using your DC41 Animal, please email us at [email protected] and one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Jack
