I have a WS-55907 Mitsubishi Tv. I seeing curved blue and other lines on the bottom 25 percent of the screen. It distorts the color and makes it hard to read the ESPN news line on the bottom. Now I am getting a white haze added to the screen after about one minute of watching the TV and at times I lose the entire picture. What could be wrong with this TV and is it worth repairing?

I tried to adjust the convergence but the lines where bowed on the bottom portion and I could never get them to align. If it is jet the convergence curicuit boards how much would it cost to have a repairman fix it. I am wondering if it is worth repairing or just bite the bullet and buy a new TV.

Mitsubishi 65 in has greenish blue coloring mainly at bottom of screen any idea's?

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

WS-55809 - Video pinched in center, distorted, yellow/blue/red glow

This doesn't sound like a programming issue. I had a very similar problem about 6 months ago and I fixed problem. I had cold solder joint on the video power board. It was the board in the middle. The power supply was to the right. The video board had a driver with a bunch of legs. About 7 solder joint where cold or loose. I solder the board and my mitsu wide screen was fixed. Hope this helps.
