What version of Office are you installing?

Unregister and Re-register Windows Installer
Press Windows key + R, in the Run Window type 'msiexec /unregister' without quotes and click on OK.
Press Windows key + R, in the Run Window type 'msiexec /regserver' without quotes and click on OK.
NOTE: There is a single space in between 'msiexec' and '/'.

Verify if an older version of Office is currently installed on the computer.

if you are seeing this 1402 error for install and uninstall, theremay be some corruption in your registry. If you were on XP, I would sayrun scanreg /fix to try and fix the registry,

It looks like the error in ur registry because of invalid registry errors so make ur registry error fix by using reginout regcleaner it will solve ur problem

Remove traces from registry too.

go to start.programs.run. type regedit in box. hit enter.

find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES. SOFTWARE.scroll down to microsoft office.delete.

DO NOT CONFUSE with microsoft windows or any other microsoft program.regedit is a volitile area you can mess up your os by deleting the wrong thing.

after this go to computer. cdrive program files and find microsoft office folder and delete. reboot pc when done.

Try using the Office 2003 removal tool. Just download the Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit at this link. It's called ork.exe:

try to uninstall the software and then clear the registries using a registry scanner then try to install the later version. If this dosnt work use an antivirus or a spyware remover
