What product are you asking about. Also why do you need to know is it acting funny. The gpu is graphics processing unit. Its a chip on the board that controls the display and handels the graphics of the display. The most common gpu are generally not abel to be fixed. The gpu are soldiered to the board by a ball grid array and would have to be heated up with a hot air gun or a soldier reflow oven to reset the soldier joints under the chip. It is best done by some one with proper understanding of soldering. If done improperly it can destroy the product completely and would not be abel to be fixed at all.
If the cutting grid is only getting warm this would indicate a loose wire, a dirty grid or a defective grid transformer. As much as these grids cost it would pay to search for the problem that is causing this. Dear Kevin, check fuses each seat has it,s own fuse. Use a multi meter and check for continuity in both seat and back cushions. Have repaired several hundred lower grids, usually the grid wire breaks at the outer edge from sliding in and out of the seat. If both grids are good try switching l/s switch for r/s. Grids can be repaired by cutting out burnt wire and resoldering ends back together again. This is very thin 30 to 35 guage aluminuim wire about 6 strands. Use electrical solder and a soldering gun. Soldering is the easy part, removing the seat material and locating the grid, some models have grids glued to seat foam, others are sewn into seat covers. This is a nice Sat. job. Kirk fe6fc
You have two problems, you have a convergence problem, the convergence board needs repair, and the other problem is the coolant needs change in the guns, (CRT's) and you are looking at 500 on repairs, you would be better off getting a new LCD.

Both of you need to have the convergence output ampifiers replaced. Very common. A reputable repair shop charges between $200 and $350 to fix it in your home. Cost is dependent on where you live.
you have a defect in the tube. the green gun has a low emission problem. sometimes you can correct it by running the heater grid above ground. also when it goes green try tapping the front of the tube with a scredriver very gently, carbon build up on the guns can short it to the heater grid.
Q553 is a mosfet transistor NTE2973 ,caps1200pf 2k volts c552 is probly good, you might also have to replace STK-392-110s if so you will have to do complete convergence alinement. you need someone who knows how to solder,and do set up alinement for this does have to be done by someone who knows how if not done correctly you can shut set down,then you will really have trouble!!!!!!
