I have a Denon DCD820 from the late 80's. This week I wanted to reuse it after remodeling my house and putting it aside for one year.
When inserting a cd, sometimes it starts spinning and the shows the amount of tracks, but after pushing play nothing happens, only some ticking sound.
This happened several times, on other occasions, it did not even start spinning and show the number of tracks.
What could be the problem?

Couldn't find much for that specific Denon model but there is lots of info on basic CD player trobleshooting. If this video isn't helpful, do a youtube search or google "cd player troubleshoot"

As you want to remodel your bathroom it is a great way to add value to your home. The first thing you have to do is to plan about a bathroom remodel structure and also get in contact with the plumbing suppliers. My cousin has remodeled his bathroom, he had chosen the lighting that will compliment the natural lights of his bathroom. He had also installed a shower and a walk-in bathtub by hiring a reputable general contractor for a walk in bathtubs Renton, and selecting the one best model that suits his bathroom decor. After the remodeling, it increases the enjoyment of one of the most used rooms in his house.
You might just have a handshaking issue between your PS3 and your receiver. See if there are any firmware upgrades for your PS3, Receiver or both. This usually takes care of the problem. If not - your receiver has a 2 or 3 year MFG Warranty. Have it checked out or exchanged.

I had the same thing happen to my trust AVR-881 two weeks ago. Even re-initializing the processor was no help.
I took it to the repair shop. They replaced three transistors on the board, and charged about $175 for the job.
