My Sony CDP-CX100 100-disc CD player will not load a disc. When I choose a disc, the carousel rotates counter-clockwise to a certain point, stops, backs up perhaps a fifth of a rotation, then rotates back to that same point, stops, and continues repeating that action, never choosing a disc. I took the cover off, and the carousel stops turning when the first CD in a slot comes into contact with the small grey steel arm with a white plastic spool on the end, which looks as though it's function is to select or load the disc. When I move the arm manually, it moves a bit, but not far enough out of the way to allow the discs loaded into the carousel to pass by it. How do I make the arm function properly, so that it retracts itself out of the path of the rotating CDs?

check the white plastic actuator next to the gear box, it is probably broken and not actuating the microswitch underneath it, these often fail, it may look ok,, but it actually is loose and the set screw on top of it is not clamping it to the rod.

I think CD Mechanism needs service and might required belts replacement.
You need to get service manual of your CDX-C225 model to do this job as manual contains all technical info about mechanism etc.

Sony CDP CX300...new belts, mechanism gets disk, places it in front of the spindle but the spindle doesn't move toward it and the disk is put back in carousel.

These models often get broken loading parts in front of the pickup assembly. If you could take a good picture of the front of the mech, I may be able to identify what is broken.

Sony CX355 skipping Fix

I have a Sony 300 disc changer that started randomly skipping tracks after it was 8 or 9 years old.
I tried cleaning it, no change.
I opened it up and found an adjustment screw on the reading lens carriage.
Note: It is very hard to see
It rotates approx 1 turn from stop to stop. It was centered from the factory.
I rotated it counterclockwise 1/2 turn, and it got worse.
I rotated it clockwise 1/2 turn, and it is fixed. It hasn't skipped a beat since.

How to fix a Sony 5-disc player that will continue to spin and not stop at any disc slot

There are opto's around the edge of the carousel so the machine can count it's position, maybe these are at fault

My Sony CDP-XA7ES CD Player can play only up to 6 to 9 tracks depending on the length of the tracks n then stops.

replace the spindle motor. the motor's speed varies while playing cds and a worn motor will not keep to the correct speed for playback of certain tracks on various points of the disc and will cause skipping and even stop altogether.

hope this helps.

Have Sony cdp-c535 cd player. The door won't stay in. Keeps cycling in and out.

I had the same problem with our 5-CD Sony carousel player CDP-C535 (manufactured Nov 1993). I removed the top metal cover, and loaded five audio CDs into the carousel. After I closed the table, I pressed the carousel tight so that it stayed close, and hit the play button. The CD player tried to push the carousel out with quite a force. I needed to warp me fingers around the front panel to keep the carousel closed. After a few cycles of forcing the carousel to remain close, and caused two separate strong "clucks" from the gear area, the CD carousel became operational again. The diagnosis of gear problem seems right.

Broken carouself? Can't properly open, close, rotate, etc.

Broken gears. The current replacement 5 disc is a CD/DVD player and sells for $129.00 at Sony or any other Sony retailer. The cost to have a service center even estimate the repair would be more than 50% of the replacement cost. Hope this helps

Jammed tray

Hi there, had a similar problem.
This unit is easy to open. the four screws on the sides and two i think on the back. When it is open you will have access to the discs in the machine. the last disc will probably be jammed between the facia and the caddy and will be impeding the carousel mechanism, once removed you should check the functions starting with eject, and again to cycle, load disc position 1 insert disc and check. this player i think rotated the disc on loading to a set position, would have to open one to check. hopefully the carousel is not out of sync and all is well.

A cd has gotten stuck in my Sony 5 cd/dvd carousel player. Appears that the label on the CD had gotten soft (sticky) and when the carousel rotates it stays stuck underneth the top while the carousel moves...

As long as the cd hasn't caused any other damage to the electronics or mechanics of the player, it should be an easy fix. First, open your carousel then unplug the player to avoid shock. Remove the top lid of the player via the screws on the exterior holding it in place. From there, the stuck CD should be right there for you to reach in and remove. Hope this helps!

CD player does not rotate

Hi there.

There could be a couple of reasons. I doubt very much that it is due to the lens. First thought is that it is probably the locking mechanism. If you look at the cd loading mechanism, there is a small plate with a locking tab that moves into place to hold the carousel still when the unit is loading a cd. This plate slides along the bottom of the unit between the cd loader and the carousel.

Secondly, it could be that the carousel is jammed on the rotating platter that it moves on. A couple of screws and it should come out - be carefull not to bend anything!

Thirdly, check the stepper motor that turns it - but I doubt this is the problem either as you said you couldn't turn it by hand either. You will need to remove the carousel to do this.

Good Luck !
