How do I fix a washing machine that doesn't fill with water, but spins and drains? Water enters the detergent holder, but doesn't seem to make it to the tub. Draining can be heard as well, even though
This is a Kenmore front loading 41272 HE clothes was machine. First problem was after a load, the floor was wet with sudsy water. I removed the spongy sudsy clothing. I drained the little tube thing at the bottom behind the little door (regular maintenance). Water came out as normal, with suds coming out after all the water had drained. I checked the larger thing next to the water tube thing, where lint, etc can be trapped. Nothing in there but suds. Added the damp soapy clothing back in to the washer. Ran the washer on rinse and spin with no detergent. Pulled the detergent cup open just slightly to see that there was water entering where detergent would be. There was water entering. Stared at the door of the washer. Could not see any water filling the tub. At the end of the cycle, which seemed to go as normal except for lack of water, I opened the door to remove clothes. They were the same as when I put them in. No water had rinsed through them. The machine agitated, spun, etc. I bought this machine in 2012.

Seems like there should be a pump or sending unit the would be controlled by the cycle timer. ProbAbly went bad. Hopefully you got the extended warranty?

Your question is confusing. A washer doesn’t spin when it washes. It agitates. A washer fill with water, agitate, drain then spin water out. Please reword your question.
Hum for one a front load H.E washer should not be having very much suds as u claim it had. Are u aware the front loads are made to use very little soap and if u use to much soap hence alot of suds, ur SUDS SENSOR will act up and can shut down any wash cycle. a trick is to run just water and some vinagar trough a couple loads if u can get to wash at all. Another issue u may have is a plugged line somewhere. or loose unconnected water hose line hence the water on the ground effect. u may want to check ur flow line from the entry into the tub where the water at the moment I cant recall the name of the gadget but it can get clogged or damaged and hinder the water from entering the tub
see this causes and fix it. God bless you When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:It's
the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins
agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin
cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It
may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with
water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse
water. See There's no cold water.

Hi bob, have you tried cleaning the dispencer drawer that supplys the detergent to the tub? in some cases over time the detergent holder can collects small amounts of powder that can dry out and stick to the walls of the holder and when the machine is in its spinning stage can sometimes vibrate the dry powder in turn cause the powder to enter the tub also there can be a huge build up of liquid detergent like softners that can form a hard black residue in the holder in turn causing the clothes to collect black paticles. If all is ok then you could try applying a hot wash cycle without any clothes in the tub to flush the bowl from any contaminents, thumbs up if this helps thanks.
Make sure the water level is just at or below the heating element. Low water level will cause the pump to "run out of water" before all wash arms and connecting tubing are filled. A pulsing sound during the wash cycle will verify. Low water pressure or a bad water inlet valve are one cause. Water siphoning ou the drain line is another. Look under your sink and verify the drain line goes from the garbage disposal or sink tailpiece all the way up to the bottom side of the coutertop enroute to the dishwasher.
Your drain line is too low.
OR the drain line is restricting air where it enters the drain stand pipe.
Remove the drain line and hold it up high.
Turn the washer on to fill. It should fill then stop.
This example should explain what you must do to correct the drain line problem.
The high speed spin of a front load washer should normally do a good job of getting squeezing out the water but if there is an oversudsing condition that makes it hard for the drain pump to operate then the suds and water will just stay there. First make sure there is no actual clog in the drain line then run a load with no soap or detergent and see what happens. It's always better to use a low suds detergent with this type of machine
Here's a few suggestions you can try. First, open the dispenser tray far enough to where you can see inside. Enter diagnostics mode by selecting DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN and pushing ANY button under OPTIONS 4 times (it has to be the SAME button, though). This will enter the washer into diagnostics mode which checks the hot and cold water fill functions, the dispenser tray functions, tumble, spin and drain. Watch inside the dispenser tray to see if you can see any water flushing through the various compartments (detergent, bleach, fabric softener). The water should be fairly steady and forceful. There's not much else, besides gravity, that forces the detergent into the wash tub. Now...if you don't see the desired water flushing action that you should see, check the overhead portion of the dispenser cavity. Pull the tray all the way out for this. There are a series of holes where the water is forced through. Sometimes these holes become clogged and will not allow enough water in during the fill and rinse cycles. It's usually the fabric softener side that becomes blocked, though. You can take some cotton cotton swabs and perform the tedious task of cleaning each hole if they are blocked. I've had to do this before and it does fix the problem. The other possiblities are the fill valve not allowing enough water pressure through (but, you didn't mention anything about a slow fill problem), or a kinked or blocked hose coming from the fill valve. If you wish to check the fill valve, turn the water off and remove the hoses from the back of the washer. Check the inlet screens for clogs. If you have hard water, well water, or BOTH, it is common for the inlet screens to get accumulated with sediment. Again, some cotton swabs will clean the majority of the sediment from the screens (you can use a little white vinegar as well). If you wish to check the inlet hoses from the fill valve, remove the top of the washer by removing the three torx screws along the back of the washer. The top will slide back then lift off. There are a series of hoses from the fill valve to the dispenser. Check to see if any of them have become kinked. I hope this information is helpful to you.
