First, just press and release the power button, you don't have to hold it in.
second, is your battery fully charged?
third, red wire to positive terminal, black wire to negative.
These are obvious things to check, but sometimes the simplest answer is the solution.
Did you install the fuse holder included with the unit? If so dI'd you put in the 3 amp fuse?
If none of these things work, call lowrance. I work in retail and have experienced taking brand new units out of the box and upon hooking them to power discover they were dead. Defective straight from the factory.
Good luck.
Is there a light indicator beside the switch button indicating there is a electric current coming in? It should light when youpress the power on button, If none, better check the power supply or the fuse at the back
check battery for full charge and tight cables.use test light check for power to starter when pushing start button.if there is, check starter. if none check for power to start solenoid on small wire going to it w/ testlight when you press start.if none, check start button, & wiring.if youi have power to it,but no start, take large screwdriver & make contact between both solenoid cable posts, make sure bike is in neutral. should crank, confirming that solenoid is bad.also, even if the solenoid has no power going to it to energize it you can still use the screwdriver trick to get bike to crank.
You've either got a short from faulty manufacturing or possibly from moisture entering your unit. Or the wiring may be faulty, if you know how take the unit out and examine the wiring; make sure the wires are all taped with electrical tape and that no bare wires exposed or touching. If everything looks ok then you might as well just exercise the warranty. They come with a 1 year warranty from Dual.
