Hi travis,
you din't mention what happened after you disconnected the main board. unplug and plug is not bypassing.to bypass the main board you have to keep it disconnected.if the back lights come on and stay on after main board disconnected, the main board is defective.
good luck.

Do you see back lights for fraction of a second with inverter connected..

  • Sp Gupta Jan 22, 2015

In that case most probably it is the inverter. Good luck again.

  • Sp Gupta Jan 22, 2015

Hi Travis, many a times the inverter boards are interchangible. Pl check the connectors and fit it. Hopefully it will work. Good luck.

  • Sp Gupta Jan 22, 2015

One more thing, Pl check you get 24 or 12 volts DC, inverter on command and brightness control command on inverter connector.

  • Sp Gupta Jan 22, 2015

24V /12V come from power supply and inverter on and brightness control come from main board.

50 inch element tv no backlight. checked led strips, they seem to be working fine....whats next?

The next step would be to check the inverter board. This board is responsible for supplying the power to the backlight. If the inverter board is defective, it will need to be replaced. If the inverter board is not the issue, then the issue may be with the mainboard.

Hi,
As far as finding replacement inverter you can do a search via google to see what you find. However, the inverter can be built into the main board of the TV, which would require you to replace that. I found through a quick search that the main board can be had for about $30. http://tvchopshop.com/all-tv-parts/proscan-plded3996a-e-main-board-3393a-zp-vst-3393-a-refurbished/
It could also be a power supply problem too, bad caps, as well as the backlight itself. It looks like you could contact the above site and ask them the typical failures of this TV for the symptoms you are seeing. If you consider yourself experienced with electronics repair, you could repair it yourself. Otherwise consider a new TV or taking it in to a repair shop.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should trouble shoot. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions

My 40 inch Polaroid LCD tv screen won't come on

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you might have a backlight and/or an inverter board issue with this TV set. It could also be due to the inverter circuits for the backlights. The inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. There could also be a screen driver problem; if it is then you have to change the entire inverter board. All this is only recommended if you have some kind of expertise for checking the internal circuitry of the TV as these units have high voltages running even when the set is switched off. The cost to change the inverter board including labor would be around $250, if you get this done by a professional. Please revert back for more help.

Blank screen with blue light

Hello
Check the backlight inverter board to your TV. This is a common fault for most of the LCD TVs. If it is faulty, the backlight won't light up, resulting a balck screen with sound.

I have a Vizio VF550XVT1A. The screen started to

Hi Alfred Grace,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.

Based on the symptoms you've described, I don't believe that the backlights are already faulty. If backlights gone to malfunction, that are permanent, but in your case you've said that the TV power up fine for half an hour, this is an indication that the fault not came from the backlights but from the inverter boards. Inverter boards are the one giving high voltage to the backlight to light up, it has a built in protection circuit that will activate once there's a malfunction on the board to avoid further damaged because of high voltage output.
If you would like to fix it yourself, I would advice you to replace both the slave and master inverter board. I saw your board at shopjimmy.com. Click it HERE for the replacement. Replacing these boards are not technical, all you have to do is to unplug the unit overnight to drain any voltages from the power supply board, disconnect all connectors and then put-in the new boards. No soldering required. If just in case that the inverter boards are not the issue (I'm pretty confident that the power supply board is working fine), don't worry, the link I've provided accepted return, the fault is on the power supply board.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Good luck and take care!

I have a 26' Toshiba LCD TV Model: 26WL65G. When I plug in and turn it on it seems to start normally, but when screen turns on blue screen appears as normal and it goes back to stand-by mode...

Note that if it is a backlight inverter board problem you will still have sound. SInce you have no sound I would suspect a power supply or main A/B board malfunction. Do you know how to use a multimeter?

I have a 42" Proscan

It sounds more like a backlight problem to me. The first thing I would try before tearing the set apart is simply unplugging it for about five minutes and plug it back in. TV's do weird things sometimes and need to be reset. Odds are, if you have to open up the TV, there's not a whole lot you can do anyway. Check the backlight on signal and also see if your inverter is working. I would suspect that if you're strobing your backlight is probably dying. In that case all you can do is replace the panel; you could try finding a replacement backlight and installing it, but I wouldn't advise even trying this. Replacing backlights is quite a task if you're not familiar with televisions. Anyway, best of luck.
